The 2 original test events were going to be an academy game and a legions game.

If the academy game is being switched with a ladies game, will the other game still be the Legions Vs Bayern Munich Legends

No idea if that game was just postponed, or moves

@chrissivad , my memory isn't the best. Am I right in thinking, some time ago, we actually got a bit of ITK that stated/suggested that one of the test events would indeed be a ladies game?

oh ffs I never said levy lied. I’m not being negative. I’m just pointing out that in the last year Levy has said it would be ready on 3 or 4 occasions. And he was wrong every time.
Honestly I’m done on this. It’s been a pack of lies from the club for months. If you chose to believe Levy now then good for you.
And you probably wonder why you have no credibility on this forum..... :cautious:

one of the original test events or a new test event?

The 2 original text events were:
Monday 27 August – Test Event One – Academy fixture, kick-off 2pm

Saturday 1 September – Test Event Two – Tottenham Hotspur Legends v Bayern Munich Legends, kick-off 2pm

That was from the club before the fire alarm issue

I think, before any test events were initially reported or spoken about.

I don't know why, but I'm sure I remember someone posting a bit of ITK that suggested we'd use a ladies game as a test event, and it was pretty well received on here.

I do remember some talk of an academy or ladies game being used as a test event, if there was any ITK i must have missed it.

To be fair the reason we are going off on a tangent is, from inside the bowl, the stadium looks good to go.
So people are making their own entertainment.

The trays moving in and out, the roof being lifted, the grass being laid, rakers installed, concrete poured etc have been great viewing. It has been a great thread.

The talk of ladies games came from Liverpool using the ladies as part of there's I think. The posts we're about 30,100 ish here and in the ladies thread also.

I may be slightly confused (no shit Sherlock). I tried the search facility and, on page 1547, found this....

First team friendly away on 4th August would suggest the test event on 5th will not feature first team players. May well be the rumoured ladies fixture.

So it looks as though it was something that was being rumoured, rather than ITK.

no, there was talk on site that it was going to be a ladies game....

Not sure it’s been said anywhere on here but it’s being said on site that the first test event (Sunday 5th August) will be Woman’s football.

I think that would be great, both for the ladies & those lucky enough to be able to go.

I can't proclaim to watch much ladies football, but I doubt they get many opportunities to play in front of the amount of people that would want to be part of such a test event? And I'd imagine the excitement/buzz around such an occasion would also be something they wouldn't necessarily get many opportunities to experience first hand?

I should point out that this IS a very ignorant post because, as I admit, I can't proclaim to watch a lot of ladies footy. So I can only apologise if anyone is somewhat offended by any of my comments.

And what would Levy have got out of lying? This is what I don't get about this absurd theory. Levy 100% would want this stadium open right now. Can't imagine he's knocking one out paying over budget for a delayed stadium and then renting another one. He has no gain to make from lying.

If Mace & Co. were telling him it was going to be ready, hence him publicly saying it would be ready, who is he to disbelieve them? What was he supposed to say when people asked him? "Our contractors have said it would be ready but I reckon that's a load of old bollocks with my 0 experience in construction" or "They've said it'll be ready but coys200 is having serious doubts so draw your own conclusions"

If, and its still a huge if... they get the first test event then it will be good opportunity for them.
Not a lot of details on attendance, but they only get a few hundred people going to watch them.

Not sure what we would cap the event at, but even if we can get a few thousand in, it would be fantastic.

It's the stadium/construction equivalent of an anti-vaxxer dismissing all medical evidence and saying "do your own research".

I think the ladies rumour started doing the rounds, someone tweeted about it and it was “liked” by a member of the ladies team or something which made people think it was true.

Never anything more solid than that though, then the Club confirmed the U21’s and Legends games so turned out to be bollocks anyway.

I’ve spent the last ten hours reading the 1752 pages in the New Stadium thread and know nothing more about when it might open than before I started!

I for one think it would be right on 21st century for the first game at the new stadium to be a ladies game.
I am also arrogant enough, after weeks and weeks saying as soon as the grass was down the whole mood would change and we'd feel like it's a finished stadium rather than a building site, to say I told you so.
I told you so!:)
Be honest it does doesn't it.

Levy isn't building the stadium and no one that is building it is going to tell him they're behind until they KNOW they can't catch up.
As far as he's concerned it's (was) on track but clearly he's lost faith with the builders and contractors so is not rushing out with an opening date.
I don't doubt there was an issue with the wiring but I do doubt it would ever have been ready for 1 month ago.
It's not like the redirected all 3k men to the wiring, most of them have been going about their usual business on camera on areas that are still weeks away from being safe for the public. They've been working 5 7th of the previous amount so they haven't downed tools.

None of that is a moan, a conspiracy theory, negativity, anti levy, it's just observing what is there, for the whole world to see.

I’m stunned by the number of people that think it is plausible that Levy/Tottenham would keep a finished stadium closed for over a month while waiting for a televised game for the first match.

Even ignoring financial consideration (and financial considerations alone are more than enough) and logistical considerations, it makes no sense.

The negative publicity of not opening the stadium for another month will clearly far outweigh any additional positive publicity of having the first game on tv. By a mile. This is so obviously that I can’t believe anyone could think otherwise.
Errrm, seriously?
