My kids school has fingerprint recognition as a method of payment. I load up their accounts and they use their thumbs to pay for goods. No need for cash.I have a kid brother who's in secondary school (and not in a posh area either) and quite a lot of them have pre-paid cards that work with contactless now. Parents like it as they're able to monitor exactly how much is being spent and what on, so no worries about giving them cash which ends up being spent on illicit booze or drugs. And the kids like it as it makes them feel grown-up. Win-win.
