I think the main concern is of the curved structure which doesn't have those panels on. So the veil will light up around it but not the other bit where you can see the escalator from outside. It doesn't look great at this moment but we'll have to see when it's finished. I think the issue with the pictures at this time is there's still much work going on and the internal lights are probably exagerated for workers to see what they're doing.

The more I look at it the more I dont really understand why the veil is shaped that way. I'm not sure why it has this v shape rather than wrapping all around the stadium like the Alianz Arena does. I guess they just want a more distinctive one than the Alianz. I'm sure it will look great when it's finished.

It is certainly for a distinctive look and to give the front end more prominence. I really like the Allianz cladding but I suspect we wanted to be unique and of course the cladding wouldnt work with the way the south stand is shaped.

Also as mentioned in another post with the Allianz you can see the light bleeding through from the interior but because our cladding has holes all over the shop im sure it bleeds out more notithstanding the fact there is no LED yet and the work lights would be super bright.

That shower room’s not going to be big enough to fit in Dier’s Dirk Diggler...

Ive gotten into the NFL big time over the past year and you need to go on youtube and check out their locker rooms especially the college ones... the damn college ones are better than the Pro's. I think Texas college or whatever just had a 7m refit - its fucking ginormous.

Yea that's UT's locker room. I believe that UT has the richest athletic department in the US.

I live in Austin and work just north of campus (not that it matters).

I would have thought that whoever the opponent is for the first game it will be 'high profile'? Perhaps I am missing something. Surely the place will be rammed.
The profile of a game has more to do with the calibre of the opponent as oppose to the stadium being rammed. By your logic all home games at Bournmouth or St Jame's Park would be high profile ones. We playing Burnley or we playing Manu Utd as our first game in the new stadium, which one do you think will attract more interest by the media and other clubs? What you (and others) seem not to realise is that the new stadium is mostly of interest to us, those outside of our support do not care one hoot about the stadium, whether it fails, whether it is a success or whether it is fit for purpose. Hence my stance on a low key, nothing to do with attendance.

Thats just insane, I mean each locker is bigger than my damn house

Maybe its a conversation for another time but I am fascinated by how big college football is, i mean it seems bigger than the Pros and the size of those stadium and facilities is insanity. Ive always wandered how they get the finances to support all that, do they get paid by the NFL when those players are drafted etc...

Combination of Tuition + NCAA Marketing and Television Deals + Donors + Alumni = Funds to make all that happen.

Prepare to be staggered then. I’d say more likely than not at this point.

I reckon they will be hoping for the Man U game, and hope if we get past Arscum in the CoC that we get the 2nd leg at our place. or they might even await the outcome of the scum match and see who the opponent will be. if it was to be Chelsea then we might have problems with the Police even though they will eventually have to police a game against a local rival eventually:mad:

That, and they don't have to pay their players.

210m is huge for a college.

So whats the incentive for them to invest all this money in their football, training facilities and players if their players arent sold?

Im assuming the none tangible aspects such as reputation etc

Looking at the stadium, bar the veil (which Chris Cowlin has said he was told would be completed by the 1st Dec) it looks ready. It’s 9-10 weeks to the Man United game.

It's been ready to host matches for 2 months - except for the alarm and safety installations. Now it's not just "ready", it's nearly "finished".

The media have been all over the stadium so clearly they care

One question here. If they still haven't finished the changing rooms by now, how did they ever expect to be able to play a game in September?

Did they just put a slow down on everything?

Football pretty much defines the state of Texas. The school knows that they can invest heavily as past alumni, donors and sponsorships will continue to reward them having a stellar program. Also helps that they WILL never ever pay the student athletes. In lieu of this, the student athletes receive scholarships and are NOT allowed to capitalize on their stardom in any way or fashion while in college. The NCAA hands out punitive measures for students who are caught getting money from sponsoring events or even selling their own jerseys etc

Sorry mate but that’s just rubbish. There will be huge interest whoever we play. Obviously if it was man United that will only amplify it. But the interest is massive you only have to look at the number of stories daily on twitter. And when they had the light show the other night Twitter nearly exploded. The interest is massive from most football supporters. Tbh even if Bournemouth were opening a new stadium I’d be interested. Maybe that’s cause I’m a stadium geek. It will be front page and back page headlines the next day.
