Drop the Wembley prices to domestic cup game levels, or the CL experiment two seasons back. The fans will come back, and bring with them a feel good factor. Absolutely the right gesture in the circumstances.

I appreciate what you're saying and yes it would be a nice gesture etc., but realistically the club are losing a shit load of money as a result of this delay, so sacrificing half their matchday revenue as well just makes that situation even worse. One of the main gripes people seem to have with Levy is that we don't spend enough on transfers/wages etc. so I think long-term sacrificing even more money as a gesture of good will would only come back to bite the club when they inevitably don't splash the cash in the summer and cite the lost revenue as a result of discounting Wembley tickets as the reason.

I find it hilarious that so many people genuinely seem to think that this massive PR disaster was somehow intentionally engineered by the Levy/the club :ROFLMAO:

Imo this is what I think happened. They knew it wouldn’t be ready for September but hoped it might ready December. So what options did they have on season tickets ? Take a punt it would be ready December or declare another season at Wembley. In reality those were the only two options. There’s no way they could have done a half/half ST. I’d imagine the ST money was already spent before it landed in their bank account. So once the fiasco started what option did they have but to drip feed info/delays monthly and pay back money in a trickle. It makes no sense to say it was a contrived plan from the start. Had they known then surely they would have just said a second season at Wembley. They would have sold all ST and yes Wembley crowds would have been down but nowhere near how much they are. For me they gambled and it has massively backfired.

the right gesture, yes it would be. Fans would feel better. We'd have more of an atmosphere.

This could actually help the team, and the points haul, and the chance of CL qualification for next season.

Levy is a hard-nosed, risk-averse beast, though. So he's gonna see it like you unless we fall down the league.

ENIC have made an absolute fortune out of the Club and they can do this if they wanted to.

The trouble is, like all the ticket pricing debates, it all comes down to the age-old argument of fans still turning up anyway. He knows that even though Wembley attendances might be down, there'll still be enough people who do turn up anyway so there's very little incentive for him to offer cut price tickets. I obviously don't have exact figures but for it to be worth Levy's while the number of people who would buy a ticket for a cut price who wouldn't have turned up otherwise would have to be high enough for it to make more money than the stadium being half full of people paying full price. Obviously they've done the maths and decided enough people will still buy tickets at full price for that to be the best option financially. So asking him to offer discounted tickets is a bit of a turkey voting for Christmas scenario.

The only way it makes sense for Levy/the club to do that would be if the amount of "good will" they received as a result would outweigh the cost. However, even with cheap tickets at Wembley I think we all know everyone would still be complaining about the stadium not being ready, so any good will would be fairly short lived anyway. At the end of the day while it would be a nice gesture, it wouldn't really solve any of the problems so just isn't worth it for the club.

I know this is a cynical way to look at it, but that's just how football is nowadays.

Not impossible but there are just far more likely explanations that don't involve some kind of conspiracy theory.

Following on from the abseiling. Did you know there’s going to be a 30 ft indoor dive tank in one of the buildings by the south stand. I didn’t realise that. I knew about europe’s biggest climbing wall but not the dive tank. That’s pretty cool. I can’t imagine there’s many of those in London.

Chelsea have a pitch for that.

Just to relieve some of the doom and gloom in this thread, it's been a slow day at work so went back to page 1200 and started reading forward in this thread and genuinely found it unbelievable how much work has been done in the past 8 months. Going from the first pictures from march to how it looks today is an seriously impressive achievement however you look at it.

You obviously haven't been on twitter!

There's a lot of fans who seem to think its some type of conspiracy.

Lets wait and see what the club do when we actually get into the new stadium. They will more than likely give us nothing extra by way of the inconvenience but we won't know until that day comes.

usually you get something for being inconvenienced, when it's there fault. if you feel hard done by, it might be an idea to contact Mace. they might know of the workers that either messed up through lack of sleep or deliberate actions, or the company that supplied the faulty equipment.

The Times now running a story about March.

A lot of the contractors are contracted up until March so I suspect it's linked to that.

On the plus side that should be the worst case scenario so at least we know it will be open this season.

Agreed entirely. Only thing I’d say is that the 1/19 refund being followed by a Cat A charge feels a bit shitty, why not refund a CAT A price or charge a 1/19 price. But yes, I too feel disappointed by the situation but acceptant that these things happen.
Surely you make it back though for the Cat C games? You must get more value back for those games if you're getting 1/19 back. I guess it depends how many of each Cat A, B and C games you end up with being refunded by the time we move back. I think the 1/19 rule is the best approach to be fair.

I'm wondering if March might actually be the stadium completion date that they're confusing for the opening date. It may be ready to start hosting games from January but finished off in March (minus the additional works around the ground to follow). Considering the amount of progress over the months and the fact they brought forward a lot of the work due next summer, 5 months to completion seems plenty realistic. It just seems a bit odd to have January or March mentioned, like if we dont hit January then Februaury is out of the question. We have 2 games in Jan (possibly 3 if FA Cup home draw), 2 in Feb, 3 of those 4 games are at the weekend so I can't see why we couldn't open for one of those.

Might be that a lot of the building contracts are till march. The club are aiming to open in jan but the contractors are saying they don't finish till march? As has been said before though the stadium wont have to be finished to hold a match.

Or it could be when the fire systems are being tested.

I really don't know so will wait and see.

You've hit the nail on the head there, none of us know.
And it doesn't really matter what dates are pencilled in for the first match, if the wiring doesn't pass the testing, the stadium won't be allowed to open, no matter how complete the building works are, unfortunately.
I'm just hoping/praying that we get a safety certificate in time to open this season at some point.

Surely the building works will only be 'finished' once the critical safety systems are tested anyway. If they're only contracted until March you would expect all the internal works surrounding the faulty cables to be finished after (maybe the final steps). Whether we move in before it's finished remains to be seen. Stick a dildo up my nostrils because fuck nose.

Was shocked when I saw those those plans on Ssc. Honestly thought it was just gonna be one of this crap climbing walls you see in leisure centres lol.
