electricians that were hired to install the fire systems are complaining that they haven't been paid yet.....

I heard Kramer on the spurs show pod cast the other day, he sounds like a right plonker, according to him the council won't give us a safety certificate and it's still not even close to being ready. I hope the boys on the spurs show bring him back to absolutely slaughter him. If it all goes to plan, obviously
Heard on the news it was Tyco(?) that was responsible. Something about no or incorrect invoices.

Meet this guy briefly today who was from Corg / Korg (no idea who / what they are) and he was the guy in charge of the electrical systems safety inspection and would be the person who eventually would have to sign off on the stadium for it to open.

So having seen the news today I was excited and brought up the test events - he said he expected them both (?) to be cancelled and had no idea why the club had announced them as it was not even close to being ready. I said that sounds very unlikely given the bad PR it would cause. He shrugged. I asked how far away he thought the electrics were from being sorted - he said 'with a fair wind in time for the beginning of next season, but most likely September / October'.

As you'll pick up on, he seemed like a right miserable fuck - but unfortunately I've had it confirmed by a couple of people since that he is definitely the person in charge and he has the final sign off on the safety certificate. Hopefully he was bullshitting, but not encouraging.

Cheers for passing on (I think!). Those kind of people always seem miserable and revel in having a bit of power.

As far as I remember our idea was to knock the Olympic stadium down and build a new one as well as tarting up the old Crystal Palace place for the athletics.
Think this would have meant playing at WHL for the duration of the new build so wouldn't have been playing at Wembley

That was the plan but there was no way the politicians who decided to give us an Olympic stadium were going to agree to have it knocked down just a few years later and turned into a football ground. Not really sure why Levy & ENIC ever thought that they would agree to that so now the politicians have spent millions of public money on subsidising WHU and more public money every time they want to have an athletics event there.

I suspect he couldn't tell you the real position and was just trying to make sure he wouldn't get any blame for leaking information.

The politician who gave us the olympics planned to reduce it to 25k. The fat idiot who took over from him decided to change that plan.

That's very true it was the original plan but they found that the financial return from using it as an athletics stadium was going to mean even more losses than they have incurred now. It would have stood unused for most of the year losing money but on the other hand with a 25000 capacity may have been of interest to the Orient.

That is bollocks. The financial cost would have been £5m a year and about £20m to take it down. We could have made money from concerts, cricket, baseball etc...

We've now spent £300m on a new roof and loses are £20m a year.

I'd call his bullish attitude and make him face DL and repeat that straight to his face!!!

I call bullshit on the electrics not being ready until a year after they were originally ready but found to be incorrect, appreciate it was posted in good faith but I don't buy it. As for the authorities not ever agreeing to let us knock down the Olympic stadium, earlier in this thread it was posted that that was the hook they used to drag us in to the negotiations and they then reneged which is why Levy was so angry with them.

Pinch of salt and all that but for what it's worth, there's a poster on the Spurs subreddit who correct predicted yesterday that we would be announcing an event on the 16th who has just posted an update. Here's what he's said:

"MACE would not confirm dates today but did express 'a high degree of confidence' that all safety certificates will soon be received ... tests are not yet complete, but the critical areas that previously failed have apparently now passed.

After the small event on the 16th, we will be required to complete two official test events probably 30,000 and 50,000+"
