The barriers have been moved back again around the South stand. I have a sneaking suspicion that they are going to open the main stairwell behind the shop before too long and maybe remove the barriers along the high road as well. We might be able to touch the stadium soon!!

It does make you wonder how much of a faff it would have been getting in and out of the stadium had we opened in September. I would have been all for it still, but the exterior would have been pretty dodgy.
I'm sure they would have cleared some good access well in time if we had.

It doesn't make sense to delay the next announcement to 7th January if they are now so certain about the Newcastle game. Plenty of people really need to know sooner than that to make plans for the game and I think the club would want to give as much notice as possible.

Just as you can see this stadium is going to be immense you can take it from me that the nou camp was one of the biggest let downs you can imagine .I was expecting something iconic but what saw from inside and out was a tired tawdry place with poor toiling facilities and poor eating facilities tho these things might be just the away supporters part and from what I saw Wembley has more quality and I dislike everything about Wembley all in all big let down but its nice to have something consistent as in the treating of us at the game by police and stewards nothing had changed since Seville a few years ago thy were thugs.
I was in the home end and it was just a sprawling concrete mass with very poor facilities, so agree with your post in every way

Someone at work was guessing that we could be waiting to see the outcome of the FA Cup 4th round draw (if we get through). Which would be played on the weekend before Newcastle. But that’s pure speculation.

And if they announce Newcastle now and they something happens and we don't get everything signed off in January?

Press and fans (ours and others) would have a field day taking digs at us and Levy.

We will be waiting until things are signed off before any official anouncment

Staying true to form we should probably analyse the shit out of it anyway. How big is it? Real or plastic? Does the tree know when the stadium will be ready? Have you even asked it? Ask the tree dammit! I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to shout. It’s not easy being homeless at this time of year. So cold. So... so cold...

Not in Tenerife it’s not:cautious:

Agreed. This may be the first time in Tottenham Hotspur history where lessons have actually been learned.

Why would we need to give more notice than 3 and half weeks? (just under 4 really) It's only Newcastle they're travelling from.

The Utd game was pushed back for that very reason because that's only a weeks notice. Personally I think it will pass on the 7th and be ready for Utd, but the short notice is not acceptable.

That could also be possible because would give about 2 and half weeks notice (well it's just under 3 really)
It would also explain why they didn't announce Watford yet. Maybe if we end up with a home tie in the FA Cup we would have that as the opener, then we can play midweek against Watford having had a weekend opener. I still think if that's not the way it turns out we'll make it the Newcastle game and announce Watford at Wembley (not convinced we'll open it midweek)

Pinch of salt and all that, but I doubt anything would be sent out until the safety certificate had been issued. And I’m sure we’d be hearing from multiple sources if it had been granted.

The contact I have at an events company said the same. Is there any reason a test event could not be a competitive match with a reduced capacity?

Not a bad idea but I'd guess as many people as possible would want to be at the first competetive match and they'd loke to have it on record that the first game was sold out.

The way I see it. The familiarity event is 6k I think. The 2nd will be larger and then the 3rd larger still before the 4th being the opening game. So basically they're testing piece by piece and making adjustments at each step. It's like Rob building a server for this place, opening to a small number first to see how the server handles it, then slightly more and then more again. If there's issues making the little changes to handle it each time. At the 4th time he goes fully live with it so everyone can access.

Yes there is a very good reason, on the basis there are 42k season ticket holders and 9k premium members. Let's say it is restricted to 30k, how could they possibly decide which 20k plus couldn't go to the first competitive match at our new stadium? Can you imagine a) not open the South stand, b) do it on loyalty points c) probably the best way let those that have attended the most games at Wembley go.

Seriously it is a non starter and could not possibly be done, your contact at a corporate events company really doesn't appreciate how passionate football fans are about their team and every single one of those 51k will want to be at that first competitive game if at all possible.

Agreed. It will much more likely be a masters game featuring ex-players or the equivalent of a testimonial for a charity or ex-player e.g. A charity event for heart health after GHods health episode last month.

Seems a very small select few have got the invite.
Could be a few have gone out early by mistake, or gone to people/companies that Levy knows.

Not going to invite the mass public untill things are far enough along or finished.

Who knows whether the story is true. Although given that membership packs and ST packs dont get sent at one time it's not implausible.

I honestly believe the club are sure it will pass the final tests by Jan 7th. They're just not officially announcing it until then given the delays last time. It may well be that we are sending packs out for Newcastle but that doesn't mean we wont open in Jan if we have an FA Cup home tie.

Wasn't it mentioned somewhere in the last day or two (probably ITK?) that the club recently ran tests on the system(s) that failed and were confident the issues were resolved and they'd pass this time?

This is basically what I was trying to say in a more vague way!
