Yes but they’d be no more of a transport link strain than any other midweek match, whether it’s the first, fifth or 17th match at the new ground.

I know what you mean, I think it will be down to any snagging at the stadium on its opening may end up contributing to the transfer chaos which ensues.

My understanding was that a weekend afternoon kick off would be the least stressful way of easing into it for all concerned.

So this was one of the reason why we were rejected? I don't think the stadium is just for football now

I think the two main reasons were:
1. Legacy, the idea that it remain the home of UK athletics.
2. The underhand dealings of the Dildo bros.

We've definitely set the benchmark for compact stands on new stadiums. They have a similar angle particularly at the top just not as high as ours. It's not just how steep the stands are but closeness to the pitch, and the acoustics of the stands. I doubt it will be as impressive as ours (not being biased) but it's good to see another club taking the atmosphere seriously.

How is their lower tier closer than ours ?

I struggle to understnas the argument that we won't be allowed to open it for a midweeek game. How is opening it against a team playing against us on a Saturday, only to play another game the following Wednesday any different to opening it for an evening game straight off the bat?

Surely if it's our stadium and we have the certificates to open we can open when we choose. Playing vs Huddersfield on the Saturday, followed by a midweek Champions Leae game do people genuinely think any glitches that could occur can be and would be resolved withinn3-4 days? It's ridiculous!

It should be able to open whenever it's ready to open, regardless of what day or time that game is being played. It's a football stadium for crying out loud
It's because the police want to check they have adequate resources, stationed in the correct areas when it's daylight, and people haven't been drinking as much as some do for evening matches.

Everton’s design looks good. Got to admit I do prefer the more rectangular shaped stadium. The one thing I’m not completely bowled over by in our stadium, is the way the corners of the stands are a bit to wavy especially the south stand.

But how is that different for a game that is played Saturday and then a midweek game played a few days after that etc?

Personally it sounds like a really wishy washy argument to say that our stadium cannot open unless it's a weekend game. Eventually we are going to have to play midweek and if it comes down to a midweek opening or us putting off opening it I don't think the police have a leg to stand on.

If the police want to check they have the adequate resources, just use the same amount required for a match at Wembley or the Emirates. I struggle to see where the police have the right to dictate when we can or cannot move into a stadium

Unfortunately we needed to have that wavy look to increase the size of the capacity. We had limited space we could use in such a tight area and the bowl gives us increased bums on seats

I'm sure the retractable pitch and the grower light storage played a big part in how close the stands are to the pitch. I think they've done a great job to get the stands as close to the pitch as possible. As for the shape, I personally prefer the shape of ours, the box shape seems generic and outdated to me. I guess it's just personal preference. The way the corners flow with the wavey lines gives it that modern stadium look. Yet there's still a boxed in feel from pitchside as well because the lower stands are close to the pitch and square. It's only really the top tiers that then curve and flow. They've integrated a new stadium design while keeping the look and feel of White Hart Lane from within the stadium. It's like you can turn up and be blown away from the outside and inside the turnstiles but then when you get to the seat it feels familiar.

We bid to knock the whole thing down. Basically we wanted the land and nothing else
We wanted to build a Football stadium and build a purpose built athletics stadium and centre at Crystal Palace, now they have neither.
Imagine our new stadium sitting proudly where the meccano set stadium is now, what an upgrade.

Evertons design is nice to be fair but make no mistake it wont be anything like nwhl. Id expect it will be fairly basic and much much lower budget with no bells or whistles but it will still be a great place for a footy match.
Suprised they have settled for 52k tbh. With ticket prices fairly low up north its not exactly going to put them in with the big timers financially.

Could be west ham i suppose.....that stand comparison is the funniest thing ive seen in a loooong time. Can the players even make it to the changing rooms and back in 15min ht?

People seem to forget the east and west are a good way from the pitch. It's identical with the emirates distance for those of you unfortunate to have been there.

True, but it’s closer than Wembley I believe and I have got used to that and will be in the same row in the East Stand.

If there's some kind of hiccup at the first game it could delay people getting home. If you do that for a weekend game they end up having a late dinner. If it happens at a midweek game people could end up missing the last train home.

And yes, three or four days between games allows you to fix things, or at the very least it allows you to warn the public about potential issues.
