New Stadium, New Name?

Whilst talking to a fellow Spurs supporter last night we stumbled across the fact that in this corporate world, with branding and sponsorship, the name 'White Hart Lane' may well become history even if we are going to move next door.

I, for one, would love us to keep the name White Hart Lane. My pal reckons Levy (or whoever owns the club when we move) will want to change it, simply to gain revenue.

It's a touchy subject, obviously, however I'm in the mood to start a petition to keep WHL as White Hart Lane.

Please post your thoughts here my friends. :)

In today's business environment, the renaming of a new stadium is a gilt edged opportunity to establish a long term relationship with a new sponsor.

Maybe KFC

Or Playstation

The stadium itself will be called white hart lane I'm sure, but there will no doubt be a sponsorship name.

Southampton fans managed to persuade the club to name the ground 'The Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium' and so they could easily keep calling it the st mary's stadium (as it isstill known following the end of the sponsorship).

I'd like to see us able o keep the WHL moniker, but it totally depends on money and the name of the company doing the sponsoring

Stumbled? You read the thread last week you mean! As most people pointed out even if they call it something else, doesn't mean the fans can't call it WHL

Yes, 'stumbled' - apologies if I missed it last week. I don't tend to read SC every day I am afraid.

If we move next door I wouldn't be able to see what all the fuss would be about, at the end of day we would call it the new lane for a while and then call it White Hart Lane which actually we'd most probably call it anyway.

.........with Mansion in Red neon-lights, of course. Would hate us to get a sponsor stadium name. We are Spurs, not some redheaded sell-outs from South London!!

Here's a question: What happens to the Scum's satdium name when their sponsorship deal with Emirates ends and they get a new sponsor (if they get a new sponsor)? Do they change the name of the stadium?

If the same happened to us (which would probably wear away another milimetre of enamel from my teeth), then we won't have a stadium with a name, it'll be a catalogue of different names depending on which corporate shill bastard has tried to cash in on Spurs at the time.

Going back to the Scum though and their new sponsor (should they get one at any time) I'd like them to be sponsored by this product:

It can presumably just go back to being Cashburden Grave, the pikey fucks.
