The cost of the Immigrants has also been put at £430m. (There's a good article on Wikipedia.) You're looking at an expansion of the Lane which will probably amount to a total rebuild, so that's 52,000-seats at £300m, not 18,000. The cost of Liverpool's new stadium has reportedly already gone up to £500m.

I think expansion should be our solution. With a new stadium comes a loss of atmosphere.

I love WHL and in an ideal world we would stay there but I think to move forward a brand new stadium would be the choice. Transport links built specifically for the stadium etc.

I'm still not convinced that ground sharing will work.

There are so many problems, and what if the work at the Lane drags on and on as sometimes these stadia builds do, then we run the risk of homelessness if a contract with another club runs out and the Lane's not finished.

I would love us to get a great new stadium at the Lane, but not sure if ground sharing is worh the risk.

Incidentally I think 52,000 is plenty re capacity. I'd be happy if we just did things slowly, a stand at a time, got to 40,000 one year, 45,000 the next etc.

Or just get out of the area full stop, and build a state of the art in Herts/Essex somewhere. There's such a massive football market in those areas, as long as the particular council/authority wanted us and was prepared to help with public transport.

Sometimes though I get v.depressed about thinking of the way forward for our ground plans. I'm not surprised it's taken the board so long, there are no easy answers. Though I remember I was all for piecemeal expansion about 5/6 years ago, when we got planning permission for (I think) the East stand.

With TV revenues as they are, even a 40,000 Lane would keep us competitive in the short term, then look to gradually expand, then again etc etc. Oh I don't know, I give up, it's too difficult :)

was talking to one of the wet sham stewards who said there were suits there last week while he was there doing a fisability study into the whole ground share thing. it appears all avenues are being explored. he couldn't give me any itk from our club but just telling me what he's seen at their place.

sorry if this info has already been posted elsewhere
