If you look at the images in the gallery you'd think people will just be going there to eat and drink. Hopefully they get to watch some football at some stage.

My interpretation of what I've seen is that the club will try and encourage people to come some time before kick off and stay for a long time afterwards. The bars and restaurants will stay open and entertainment will be provided (after the football of course). I think they want it to be a whole day experience for a good percentage of those going, not just a 2 hour thing.

Do people really want to spend time in Tottenham ? I love the club to bits, but I dont think you can polish a shite. Soon as the game is over, I'll be going home.

In essence, i agree with you and have the same feeling, however I very much doubt that Tottenham will remain like it is now. The stadium will hopefully be the start of regeneration / gentrification of the area. Look at Notting Hill in the 1980's - it was a slum. I feel Tottenham will develop around the stadium and a lot of much needed investment will go into the area.

But you'd probably come early and stay later for a slap up meal and some beers if they were free though. For many of the corporates, the day is paid for by their company or someone else's, so that is exactly the deal.

For the plebs, if the podium area was operated as a fanzone with lots of kiosks selling beer and snacks, and have live music and/or large screen showing highlights, then on a warm evening after an important win, I can imagine quite a few wanting to hang about for an extra few hours. The could have interviews with the goal scorers live on stage perhaps...

Trouble is, the police will want everyone dispersed as quickly as they can be packed onto the trains. They are going to start moving in with their Alsations after 45mins or so.

True, look at parts of Hackney, Peckham, and Brixton, all of which had reputations like Tottenham, and all have gone up-market. There will always be rough parts, but the area around the stadium could be unrecognisable in a few years, and the new stadium will be the first phase of a whole new regeneration project that will transform the place.

Some times this will suit me as i spend longer travelling to the ground than the game lasts. Staying either before or afterwards is a good idea and since you will be able to mix with others, unlike at Wembley, will be able to catch up with friends.

It is actually quite clever to encourage fans to come earlier or leave later as it alleviates the transport issues. If 62,000 people were to arrive and depart at the same time it would be far more chaotic and uncomfortable for all concerned.

The only issue is the policing of a game has to take place over a longer period too.
