Absolutely. I'm getting on Rob and A&C's case to have a new sub-forum devoted to this kind of stuff.

Is POTL Donna Cullen?
The amount of attention POTL must get, now his fame has blossomed so completely, i wouldn't be surprised if he'd had to draught in Max Clifford to field some of his forums

seems a long time since robofan, huh?

POTL on COYS...

This facility is going to be the best facility built in Europe to date.
It will give us the best chance of attracting the best youngsters in the world, to the best players on the planet. We will be able to rehab quicker than other clubs, and provide the best facilites that will be uncomparable to anywhere else. The place is absolutely unbelieveable, no expense has been spared here whatsoever. From the youth to the 1st team facilities, fantastic. The whole aspirational approach, from being a kid to working your way up and around the complex to the 1st team is top notch.

Anyone who gets the opportunity to see it will be impressed beyond belief- with this training ground, the new stadium on the way, the excellent financial situation situation the club is in, and the way it is run, not to mention the top players we already have at this club- within 5 years we could be one of the top clubs in the world.

POTL

Thank you Daniel

Whereabouts in Wales are you studying, SMouse?
I did Aberystwyth - twice :duh:

It's not SMouse anymore. It's S dot Mouse exclamation mark!

So, is this in Enfield? Is it that site off the A10? Or is it somewhere completely different? This information is, as you can imagine, vital to me as I live in a city with an average annual rainfall of 1240mm.

Since when do you "install" trees? Trees are planted, for crying out loud

Or are trees "installed" by people who go to "spin" classes, and trees are planted by people who ride a bike and don't feel the need to invent new names at every given opportunity.

Riding a bike is a completely different exercise to spin.

It's like comparing distance running to sprints, or lifting a 10kg weight 100 times and lifting a 100kg weight once. They do completely different things to the body.

Aside from that, I suppose 'installing' a tree means placing already grown trees into the ground in a pre-determined fashion. As opposed to planting, which would be a new tree.

So basically we are now a bigger club than Barcelona and Real Madrid combined and all transfer targets will see us as such. Messi and Ronaldo will have to join the queue of world superstars desperate to play for Tottenham Hotspur.

Yeah the big thing on a player's mind when choosing a club is the training ground. Forget money, trophies, history, it's all about how smart your array of exercise bikes are

I'm curious regarding how they intend to irrigate the pitches. With drought conditions having just been officially declared as early as February, FFS, in London and most of the Southeast and East Anglia, we can expect to have restrictions on the use of hosepipes and sprinklers. The latter are especially inefficient and wasteful, as much of the irrigation water evaporates before it gets to the roots.

I wonder if they'll be installing a sub-surface "leaky hose" drip irrigation system to get around the problem and also storing rainwater from that great expanse of roof to use in irrigation. Both would be good ideas for the future, as droughts are becoming near-annual occurrences in the Southeast now.
The new facility, due to be opened for the 2012 season, will feature a mix of sand based, Desso and Fibrelastic pitches for the first, reserve and academy teams. No fewer than twenty-three staff will work permanently on site, including a mechanic, irrigation engineer, secretary, head groundsman, and head gardener.

A real green dimension permeates the project, with a recycling plant, Waste2Water washpad facility, two 236,000 irrigation tanks fed by two newly drilled boreholes, as well as a conservation area and a large programme of new plantings aimed to create a grand 'manor house' style entrance.

An attenuation lake will hold water ready for outflow at the rate designated by the Environment Agency, Darren explains.

From 'Pitchcare' magazine.
So it looks as if they are ahead of you David though the underground facilities will probably feed sprinklers for the 'real grass' pitches.
Ther's some stuff about thermal underground storage too elsewhere but that's beyond my pay grade.

You are overplaying it a bit.
Depends on the player and what stage of his career he is at...

...but, I would imagine for young players/teens, especially, knowing that you are going to be training in the state-of-the-art facility in Europe will be a bit of a draw, and for all players, including older ones, knowing that the club is investing so much in so many areas to make this club competitive, again, will be a bit of a draw.

I am sure, if you want to push it to the Nth degree, Greasy Ronaldo won't be demanding a pay-cutting move to the Lane, any time soon, just because of our new training facilities.

How much credence do we give to Daniel Levy's claim that this will be the best training facility in Europe? I believe he said something along those lines.
I don't know much about what the other big clubs have available to them, or what criteria would make a training ground the best in Europe, other than the number of pitches, indoor training areas etc. Anyone know much about this?

All I know is that it is widely reported to be state-of-the-art and, for some reason (usually being massively sceptical of anything journos say), I find it difficult to believe that journos would be reporting this, without some background checks, just on Levy's say-so.
