Does anyone know what the plans for the old training ground are? Presumbaly there is a windfall coming there (combined with the end of construction costs on the new ground)

Planning permission took ages, we were turned down twice? Does seem like for ever though, but fingers crossed ready for the beginning of 2012/13 season.

I live about a mile away from the new training ground, I have some good and sad memories of Whitewebbs (what used to be there before Tottenham) for various reasons/events. Will have great facilities if its anything close to Arsenal/Utds/Villas/Chelseas training grounds though!

Pav's showing a great long shorts, high socks, welly boots look. Everyone's going to be wearing it this summer in Moscow.

Club celebrates key landmark in construction at New Training Centre

The Club has today marked a landmark day in the construction of the new Tottenham Hotspur Training Centre as it celebrated the 'Topping Out' ceremony.

Hosted by the contractors McLaren Group, the ceremony was attended by Club Captain Ledley King and First Team Manager Harry Redknapp along with Club Partners from Enfield Council and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and guests from the construction industry.

The Topping Out is designed to commemorate the completion of the structure of the building and today’s event gave the opportunity for the Project Team to showcase the building to the Club and the industry as it takes shape with around a year to go before completion.

Daniel Levy said: "We are delighted to have reached this major landmark in the construction process and to be well on the way to delivering a new state-of-the-art Training facility for Spurs that will not only be the best in England but in Europe. We look forward to seeing this iconic facility completed and becoming our new home for training.”

Harry Redknapp, said: “It’s great to be here and see the centre taking further shape. What a fantastic facility for players to come and work in every day and to attract young players who are thinking about coming to Spurs. You won’t find a better training centre than this anywhere. It’s got everything a top class player would need.”

Club Captain, Ledley King said: "It’s great to be here to mark today’s event having been here to see these works begin just under 2 years ago. Having come through the ranks here at Spurs and understanding the value and importance the Club places on developing home-grown talent, there is no doubt this facility will provide a fantastic platform both for our First Team and Academy."

Michael Dawson said: “It’s fantastic. It’s still a year away from being finished, but when you look at the plans and you see it already taking shape, you know it’s going to be special. We’re a top team and we need top facilities, and it will all be here, and the players are going to benefit from it.”

Kevin Taylor, Chairman, the McLaren Group commented on the landmark ceremony: “We are immensely proud of this development and are delighted to be able to mark this point in the project with all of the team members who have worked so hard to get us here, as well as display to the Club the world-class facility where they can look forward to training.

“An example in cutting edge design, engineering and construction techniques, the training centre is set to be testament to what can be achieved through a shared vision, innovation and practical collaboration at every stage of a project.”

David Keirle, Chairman of architects KSS, commented: “It’s a great day for all the team and especially for ourselves to see the building really coming together. As we move into the final phases of the project you can feel the excitement of the Club at what they will take possession of in the summer of 2012.”

The new world-class training centre, due for completion in 2012, will be the new home for the Club’s First Team and Youth Academy. It will also provide an additional base for the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, the Club’s charity engaged in sport-related community work.

The new state-of-the-art training centre will include:

    • 11 outdoor pitches - one artificial pitch and ten natural grass. The main pitch to the professional squad area will be designed to the same quality and design as the pitch proposed for the New Spurs Stadium; complete with undersoil heating.

    • A two storey training centre, which also has a basement, has been designed by architects KSS to be an integral part of the landscape. The building has been designed around a 70 x 50m indoor artificial pitch which features a transparent ETFE roof similar to the EDEN project in Cornwall.

    • The building, which is being built by McLaren Construction, also incorporates a learning centre for the Academy and educational space, medical facilities, a hydrotherapy / swimming pool, fitness centre/gym, changing rooms, a canteen and media centre.
