looks like they are installing the type of pitch we played on against Young Boys. Great if true. Isnt the only other one in the country at Liverpool's training complex?

Apparently it's all been a waste of time and QPR are about to outdo us.

http://www.qpr.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10373~2771616,00.html

The Warren Farm site will be developed into a full multi-purpose First Class Professional Elite Training Facility and Community Sports Complex, which will have state-of-the-art facilities that are second to none.
These facilities will be used by both our professional and academy footballers, as well as the community, and echo our ethos of being 'more than just a Football Club.'
The land will be designed for the Club's professional training requirements, which will be designed to the Premier Leagues Academy Category 1 and Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP), with a layout of natural and artificial training pitches and grids. These facilities will provide a platform for the development of local home grown talent and inspiration for the local community to aspire.

Well, that claim to fame was never gonna last very long, anyway...I am sure they have sown a keen interest in our training complex.

How long before it is open for business?

Previous info in the thread suggested May/June, but guess it depends on the builders as to when its finally complete.

However suspect that parts will be in use fairly shortly (even if the final parts - likely to be semi cosmetic - are not finished) as Spurs have taken the decision to say that the last trainng seesion at Spurs Lodge has happened, yet players will still need training facilities to keep fit for those involved in international matches, injury treatment rooms and even preparation for youth tournaments (eg there is an under 19 tournament at end of May to prepare for). IMO forget a grand opening, parts will be in use pretty much now, and the last pieces done maybe in a month or so.

Sorry, you've misread: we were dicsussing Fulham's proposed new training complex which they claim will be state-or-the-art, adn when that (Fulahm's new trianing complex) would be open for business, and not our one (which, as I understand, should pretty much be operational this Summer).

...strictly speaking the word 'it' refers to the last noun, which was the Spurs training ground :) but I realised the issue and posted a second answer too. !

However QPR say they are about to start the design work - so given it took Spurs 3 years to go from design through the plannning process and then build it (with £45m or so), guess we will not know if its as good as ours for some time. May not be quite right to say 'about to outdo us' ! :)

That was the time-frame I was thinking, too.
I was kinda alluding to the fact that be a gap between someone saying they were gonna surpass us, and it actually being open, during which time we would be market leaders  Just as something that is state-of-the-art will, sooner-or-later, be no longer state-of-the-art, because something newer is state-of-the-art.

I have lost count of the number of times that you see a team boast they have 'the best facilities around'.
