Director Andy Simons appears alongside Darren Eales of @THFC_Spurs to give a presentation on the Elite Player http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqcsKoBVIBw … #SoccerEx

The video is relatively interesting -- but a bit on the long side - talking about a lot of the decisions made in the design of the training ground, and the relationship of the decisions with the new FA youth training programmes (Academy Categories etc)

Congratulations to Darren and the Team at Spurs Groundstaff Take Top Award 07122012 - News - http://tottenhamhotspur.com http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/spurs/News/groundstaff-take-top-award-07122012.page

The KSS really was interesting (in a boring kinda way :)).
What I found most interesting was the bit about the recreation/social facilities, and how much consultation they took to make sure it was a used space - i.e. the players actually spent time there - and not a wasted space. Made me wonder just how much the players are socialising together, especially there, and whether that has hadany impact upon the togetherness of the squad, which looks great ATM.

I remember one of the players saying it was such a fantastic facility they didn't want to leave when they finished training! That has to be a huge benefit to the club in general.

They could be going here every day :-

IMO part of the consultation process was to find what type of things players liked doing - and the design an area which was large enough to do all those things (plus a bit more probably) in a way which could be re-used so that if all the table tennis loving players moved, the space could be re-used for something else.

Its designed to be the ultimate luxury pad for relaxing players - partly to encourage thenm to socialise but also a number of players are not London born and so Spurs would rather provide them with a nice place to spend time than want them to go off with too much time on their hands and too little to do.

Here's the old Streetview, nice palette outside the gate!! Is that the players bonus when they win, pick up a bun on the way in!? :D :-

Was going to say there used to some palattes lying around, wasn't there?

That wee pathway in the bushes sneaking off to the right looks a likely location for a Crack Ho's boudoir for sky-clad assignations - and located in just the right place to attract discerning clientele :)

I went to the training ground a couple of weeks ago. Very impressive facility, although to be fair, I cannit compare to others as I have not been inside another training facility. I was given a tour by the facilities manager. I have been sworn to secrecy that I should not share any details! Access is not grreat but then the Lodge was down a country lane next to a civic amenity site. Although that's irrelevant anyway haha

Proposed new 500 seat stand for the training ground (+ predictable nimbyism in article below):

Can't see where the complaints are coming from. It's behind trees. As for increased traffic, welcome to the world.

It's hardly going to increase traffic that much, it's right by Capel Manor Gardens and one of the largest Jewish cemeteries in London so there is already a relatively high volume traffic on Whitewebbs.
Environmental impact is also nonsense as you can spit from the training ground and hit the illuminated and always busy M25.
Last and by no means least, the nimby from Rosemary Avenue (where the quote comes from) is about 3.5 miles from the training ground, you have to drive past a country park to get to the training ground

Could this be used for Prem B games? It will save using WHL to frequently.

A 500 seater stadium would have been too small even for some of the Next Gen matches where crowds of 5,000+ were recorded on the continent and here.

I'd suggest a ground capacity (and therefore stadium seating capacity) of 2,500 - 5.000) rather than 500, allowing larger crowd matches to be held the at the new WHL.

A 500 seater stadium is welcome at the new Stadium but will need to be enhanced by stands round the other sides of the pitch of at least a similar capacity plus standing room for a number of matches - and a minibus service on match days from the local station would also make sense given there is no local transport to the training ground . Plus of course a gantry to film Spurs TV coverage of Spurs youth matches and transmission of the matches !

If the suggested under 23 matches are to be held at the training ground......a lot of work needs to be carried out urgently to bring things up to a decent standard

Tottenham Hotspur close Spurs Lodge training ground in Epping Forest

1:30pm Tuesday 18th February 2014 in NewsBy Jaber Mohamed, Reporter

Tottenham Hotspur has confirmed it will close its old training ground as the club completes its move to a new site.

The north London club will stop all training activities at Spurs Lodge, in Epping Forest, at the end of the month.

It has used the site since 1996 but more than a year and a half ago Spurs began a move to its Enfield training centre, in Hotspur Way, because the site was too small.

A club spokesman said that despite leaving the lodge, the club will continue to provide community football courses in the area.

He said: "Tottenham Hotspur has kept an active presence at Spurs Lodge over the past two years since we moved to our new training centre in Enfield.

“During that period, the club has continued to deliver community programming both at the Lodge and across Epping Forest and will continue to do so.

"The club's programme at the Lodge will come to a close at the end of February and we are now currently in discussions with partners about the long term plans for the Spurs Lodge site.

“These will be brought forward in due course once the appropriate engagement has taken place with key stakeholders including the local authority."

Spurs Lodge was previous training ground for the club's first team and the home of the Tottenham Hotspur Academy.

Property development? Contribution to the stadium fund?
