BTW this is the planning application in full :

http://forms.enfield.gov.uk/swiftlg...l?theApnID=P13-03408MMA&theTabNo=3&backURL=<a href=wphappcriteria.display?paSearchKey=539525>Search Criteria</a> > <a href='wphappsearchres.displayResultsURL?ResultID=568067%26StartIndex=1%26SortOrder=APNID:asc%26DispResultsAs=WPHAPPSEARCHRES%26BackURL=<a href=wphappcriteria.display?paSearchKey=539525>Search Criteria</a>'>Search Results</a>

The stadium is required to comply with revised EPPP (Elite Player Performance Plan) rules for 2013/14 season for Category 1 Academies (including Spurs) it must play a number of Development League 1 matches at the Training Centre, in addition to hosting matches at its White Hart Lane (WHL) stadium and requires a new criteria for Category 1 Academy Venues hosting Development League 1 matches. This requires a range of other measures that Academy Venues have the ability to accommodate: a minimum of 500 spectators under cover.

The overall Stand structure is 93.6m long, 4.3m wide at its deepest and 3.7m high ie its designed to be as low on the ground as is practical so only a few rows of seats, but the full length of the pitch.

The height of the stadium means its unlikely to be used for a TV gantry - maybe if we get one the TV camera will need to be attached to a floodlight !

Spurs have taken 'Pre application' advice from Enfield Council, and the Planning Department has made its recommendation to the Planning Committee who meet on 25 February ::

That planning permission be GRANTED subject to conditions (on page 16 of the linked document)

Stand approved: The entrance to the Spurs training centre

By Ruth McKee

AN environmental campaigner is “appalled” by the decision to allow Spurs to build a 500-seat stand on a greenbelt site near leafy woods in the north of the borough.

Owner of the Village Wholefood Shop in Forty Hill, Jill Simpson is furious that at last night's meeting of Enfield Council's planning committee councillors voted unanimously to allow Tottenham Hotspur to build a 500-seater stand in their training ground off Whitewebbs Lane.

The decision, which council officers had recommended for approval, was due to be made last month but was postponed in order to give councillors a chance to visit the training facility near Archers Wood.

“Last night was not democracy. I was appalled, frustrated and saddened by the decision of the councillors,” Ms Simpson told this paper.

“One councillor even praised the site as a good example of a 21st century greenbelt site. I mean, it totally made a mockery of the democratic system.”

Ms Simpson had made a deputation to an earlier meeting on the issue, petitioning councillors to halt any new development on Enfield's greenbelt.

She had also written to individual councillors on the committee in a last ditch bid to influence their decision.

Speaking after last night's meeting she admitted she felt that her objections and those of other local residents, had been dismissed abruptly.

“Corporate interests have been put above residents' concerns. The reason for the greenbelt is to stop urban sprawl.

“I think we are all dependent on the natural world and we need to protect it.”

The Advertiser tried to contact Andreas Constantinides, chairman of the planning committee, but had not had a response at the time of going to press.

A spokesman for Spurs' declined the opportunity to comment after the stand was approved, however prior to the meeting he said: “The club is committed to
providing a training centre that is sensitive to its surrounding environment and extremely sustainable.”

Lol, I'm sure she thinks this is just the first step towards the whole site being concreted over. It is a greenbelt site and will remain so due to the nature of the development that is there. Dozy bint.

Have no idea what she's complaining about. Residents can't see it. It's being built next to the pitch on land we have already got and worked on. There will be no extra supporters coming to games.
Fuck sake she should live in camden, the place is a permanent building site.

I very much doubt she is any of those things. Her comments strike me as poorly disguised NIMBYism.

Owner of the Village Wholefood Shop in Forty Hill, Jill Simpson: “Last night was not democracy."

Yes it was. That was precisely what it was.

There's something uniquely irritating about people who start to squawk and rant about "undemocratic" decision making as soon as the representatives whom they voted for make a decision they don't like.

That's representative democracy: you vote for people and, whether the people you favoured win or lose, the ones who get elected get to take decisions in your name. Just because you don't like the results, you don't get to claim that it's "not democracy".

That's sentimental bullshit of the first order.

Shouldn't she be more worried about her trademark infringement?

What exactly is wholefood?

Food that hasn't had half the nutrients taken out by over-processing. For instance, we're going to make chilli con carne tonight. We'll use whole dried red beans that we can cook ourselves, instead of a tin of processed, over-boiled red beans that has already had a pile of salt and sugar added to it.

Some whole-foods shops also go out of their way to sell food that has been sustainably (as opposed to industrially) farmed.

Thanks David' so just plain food then really pretty much what I have , mind you my kidney beans come out of a tin in chile sauce:)

This lady does seem to have a downer on the whole thing though doesn't she, I get the impression the council take a disinterested view of her maybe she called wolf too often, still I guess everyone's heard of her shop now.

Its food for gullible people.

It's food for people who prefer to know what they're eating without reading a huge list of ingredients, many of which are added to compensate for the industrialised process of making the food.

I prefer to buy food that contains one ingredient - a vegetable, a piece of fish or meat, a spice or a grain - and combine them to cook my own food, rather than paying extra to subsidise some multinational's advertising budget and ending up eating some nameless dreck that has been filled with sugar, salt and trans-fats to compensate for the flavour that used to be there.

Yeah, the list of e-numbers in lots of things is scary. I've found so-called 'healthy' foods that turned out to be packed full of E300 or E160d!!!

:meh:
