There are 2 techniques in Shaolin Kung Fu (the monks in orange robes from China) called Iron Leg and Iron Shirt. They do exactly what they say on the tin. They make your leg or torso (depending on what technique you choose) impervious to any blow. That means NO MORE BROKEN BONES!! No more fibula, tibia, metatarsal crap. Also extra kicking power.

Now there is an official Shaolin Temple in the UK in N. London near Tufnell Park. The main teacher there was a monk at the Temple in China for 15 years and he has asked me to find out if football clubs would be interested in these techniques so obviously first port of call is the mighty Spurs, but how? Any ideas guys or connections would be great.

I have posted some youtube links of him when he did a demo on "This Morning" with Richard and Judy a few years ago and also a recent demo of some of his students doing some basic stuff after only 3 months training (takes around 3 years to master it completely).

If only Luka and Ledley had done this training!

Is there any science behind this?

if you watch the clip when he was on tv they say they can't explain how he can physically do it. The chinese say it is Chi or Qi which is an internal energy that can be cultivated using breathing exercises.

The "official" Shaolin Temple is a gang of rip-off merchants backed by the Chinese government. Avoid.

agreed but during the period between 1985 and 1995 they still produced some real fighters and martial artists. since then they are mostly acrobats and stage performers. watch they videos and you can see the guy is real. he is 5 time chinese nation free fighting champion and 2 time international free fighting champ. he is acknowledged as being the best of that generation.

Oh, are you studying at Shaolin right now? In China or in the UK? I prefer the softer styles like Wudangquan (to look at and admire - I can barely run, much less fight ), but that would take forever to learn.

The 'iron leg' thing is a bit of an exaggeration (obviously your bones would still break if you fell off the 50th floor for example), but I have definitely heard of those who reach a level where it is very, very difficult to break a bone, in comparison to normal people. But it would take a lot more than three years of even intensive study, much less three months; and there is the possibility they would manifest blockages while training (which would eventually clear up with progress).

That said, I think learning some martial arts would be pretty useful for footballers. Not only do you become physically fitter and stronger, with quicker reaction speeds and greater resistance to injuries, but it would develop your mental discipline and focus, which I think is especially important for sportsmen at the top level. And Shaolin encourages a very healthy, natural way of living.

Stephen Ireland attributes his improvement last season to being a karate nut, though I think he means this more in a fitness sense than mental development. He is a bit strange tbf

If you want to get in touch, my recommendation would be to contact Paul Barber, the executive director ([email protected]). It'd probably be better to find someone directly involved with our fitness team but from what I've heard, at least Paul takes the time to respond personally to emails.

There's also a general list of contact info on the OS: http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/clubgeneral/clubgeneral_contacts.html

Be pretty helpful if the master could teach them to jump 15 feet in the air , spin round two times and round-house the ball into the top corner .

With Taraabt and Bale we've got all the monkey magic we need aint we ?

Some mornings i log in and realise why i love this site so much - it attracts so many brilliant ideas!

Whether this would help or not, i do think that far too much emphasis nowadays is layed on speed and streamlining the body, reducing weight, toning etc. and i agree that this is one of the reasons i think we see more delicate players - there's very little that actually encourages a physical toughness.

The biggest problem i see is that the fitness regimes are quite personal to the coaches, using their preferred methods for this and that (look at Wendy's; draughting in nutritionalists and such, stripping off every ounce of body fat from our players compared to Harry, strolling in and dumping a bottle of ketchup on the canteen table) so to get this kind of new idea instilled would take approaching a coach or something around that department.

Who knows, they may have tried this and found it doesn't fit with their other training, can't hurt to ask, can it
