I just finished watching this game with a lot of interest.

Mainly because; a) we have the goons coming up, and b) Newcastle are one of those unfortunate sides - that despite their quality and management have failed to win since that dreadful game against us in October.

My points from the match to be taken into consideration are this;

=Without pressure Arsenal will kill you

=Arsenal are still cheating bastards

=The premiership will be decided this year by teams who put their hearts, body and soul into the fight

Newcastle harried Arsenal from the off and it was a silly clearance which allowed them to score. Minus that and they were ineffective - simpy because they had nobody to rely on under the intense marking.

Adebayor was repeatedly looking for the ref to give him something towards the end of the game, this frustration cause him to lose his way and Arsenal to have no reliable hitman. Even Sagna was booked for simulation.

Newcastle did what Blackburn and West Ham did against us, they put their bodies on the line in the midfield and in the defence, something that Spurs have been a little short of.

In conclusion, it was an excellent game even though it put Newcastle another point up further above us.

But we should take heart at Spurs to know that if Ramos can get his head around the prem fever this year he will understand that a little more welly and a bit more tactical nous in midfield will really save our season.

Having said that, if we do adopt the current style, we will lose one of our strikers at the transfer window, because it seems like it willl become less of a strikers game and more of a midfield tussle.

And I hate to say it, but push-and-run, and speedy wingers and forwards are not going to get Spurs into the top half this season.

We need to knuckle down and learn from this game.

I maybe should suggest in the Spurs Chat forum that it is about time we changed our whole attitude on the field, but I didn't want to make a point without referencing this game.

I only hope that Ramos doesn't think he can bring too much Spanish style pace and flair in to the side and use it to rescue our season. This season is going to be about fight, accuracy and strength - not pace, agility and attacking space.

Am I wrong?

Or having seen five matches in three days and seen the exact same attributes in the better teams do I have it on the nose?

(Save for Liverpool - who were gifted every goal almost criminally)

Newcastle are the one side that has managed to make Derby look good this season.

The Geordies have got 4 piss-easy games coming up next. They'll be top 7 in Jan and Big Sam will probably become England manager as the FA will have procrastinated and pissed off anyone decent by then.

And if my cheeky little ITK is right, then maybe the Geordies will be happy to get rid of him.
