We are doing better than I expected given the circumstances. I doubt all of the top 6 will come here and win this season.

Solid first half, a little rusty as expected but think we got enough here to win today

Solid? Don't know what game you're watching. If Newcastle were a shade better than shite, we'd be in trouble!

Fairly standard opening day fare here. Both teams struggling to really get going and string passages of play together and it's quite bitty. From a Spurs perspective, looking fairly sluggish across the park and a lot of needless little errors. I think Dier has been fairly good in the centre of the park, Vertonghen has looked sharp enough too..... The rest have got to find their feet. And that right side of ours (Aurier-Sissoko-I'd tbh include Sanchez and also Moura too who gave the ball away about three times and exposed us to the counter attack) looks ready to drop a special at any time.

Nowhere near comfortable in this game, hopefully got an extra gear or two in the second half.

No, no he isn't.
I just disagree mate. Guy should be booked already and he's got a penalty in him every game. Can't think of a player personally, who I've trusted less to make clean tackles in dangerous areas. I hope he proves me wrong but with him on the field, we always run the risk of gifting the opposition dangerous frees and pens. Not conceeding, GIFTING.

Aurier is an accident waiting to happen in a back four. He just cannot defend and his positioning is non existent. Needs to be playing as a wing-back with 3 at the back. Great cross for the goal??

Aurier really needs to take his game back to basics, he has everything to be a good player just tries to over complicate things too often and causes himself trouble.

Dunno how anyone can single out any players this half. They more or less all been way below par.

Are we gonna ignore the fact that Eriksen's corners have been very good as well, will probably be ignored though.

That was a solid if unspectacular half.If Kane was in October form you reckon he would have put away at least one of the times he was found in space in the box. His touch is way off at the moment. Some nice passes and link up.

Verts and Sanchez have been rock solid as usual. Eriksen busy without dominating. Dele has been industrious.

Aurier is Aurier - the good and the bad. Sissoko has been very solid in his very "safety first" role (not that the usual numpties in the match thread have noticed).

Moura has been invisible which is a shame - not least because I loaded up on him in fantasy this year.

Have we signed a new set piece taker? 2 corners, 1 goal and one nearly goal. And none of them went on the head of the first post defender.

disagree. as a defender you HAVE to think safety first and not give away stupid fouls or possession. You don't see that with Jan, Sanches or Davies yet Serge has already done it 4 or 5 times in this game.

If I was to be surgical I'd say Jan and Sanchez have needlessly given away possession a couple times in the first half.

Kane has done nothing, Lucas has gone missing for the last hour an hour, Davies continues to be ignored on the left and Sissoko is still under hitting his passes, it happens.

Aurier makes mistakes but this has gone beyond criticising him for that.

The non stop aurier bashing is tiring, I get it you don't like him, don't want to have to read a gazillion posts every match thread about him being shit.

Is there a macro or something were you can disable reading comments that feature the word aurier

Kane's girlfriend just had a baby. To be fair, he may be a bit shell-shocked still. Too early to judge him yet.

To be honest I'm really most disappointed in Lucas. Never seems to be in the right place and just not really helping the team at all. He's certainly not been the worset player out there, but has been a ghost. I was really hoping he would grab the game by the scruff of the neck after pre season. Hope he sorts it out second half.
Yeah - he is better out wide I think - tucking in keeps him in a crowded area, less room to use his quickness to take a player on 1-on-1

Bet Sissoko stays on for the full 90 regardless of what he does or doesn't do. KWP should have started, was mom against this lot last time out. Aurier is a red card, OG or penalty waiting to happen.
