I hate to be that guy, but you'd think we were losing by 90% of comments in here.
To be expected...the summer brake, the anticipation, the lack of signings, sissoko in midfield, the lack of match sharpness or just exhausted from WC, being spurs fans and always expecting the worse, oh and did I mention Sissoko in midfield.

I would say tho that we do need to raise our game a bit. I don't think we will loose but I can see them taking it to 2-2 if we get any more sloppy.

I dont know what game you are watching. We are playing well and looking very comfortable.

We're awful. The only reason we look comfortable is because the opposition are even worse! If what you're seeing from Spurs is you're idea of playing well, then you are very easily pleased.

What game are you watching? He’s given it away or the play has broken down so much when he gets the ball

He hasn't given it away more than many other players. You're just in default stick the knife into the scapegoat mode. It's laughable really.

Personally I'd have Toby in and Sissoko off with Eriksen dropping deeper but the manager selects him for a reason and he's been fine playing that role. Wanna argue - go argue with Poch ffs

The non stop aurier bashing is tiring, I get it you don't like him, don't want to have to read a gazillion posts every match thread about him being shit.

Is there a macro or something were you can disable reading comments that feature the word aurier
put us on ignore. You can undo once he’s eliminated Stupid from his game.

To be honest I'm really most disappointed in Lucas. Never seems to be in the right place and just not really helping the team at all. He's certainly not been the worset player out there, but has been a ghost. I was really hoping he would grab the game by the scruff of the neck after pre season. Hope he sorts it out second half.

Agree, was expecting a bit more from our “new signing” on his debut ;):sneaky:.

All the moaning about Sissoko and Aurier, but Kane and Eriksen have been worse than both of them.

Liked Dier's game so far and think Dele and Davies have been decent as well. Hopefully this is a sign of goalscoring to come from Dele.
Think it was Davies not closing down Ritchie that led to Newcastle’s goal.

This isn't surprising to be honest. It's clear he's got a lot of ability with his dribbling etc. and when in goal scoring positions in and around the box he's pretty composed, but it was obvious in his appearances last season the guy really doesn't have much of a picture about creating space and what movements to make etc. phase after phase. That's why he's not (currently) at the very top level in all honesty. He's very much a work in progress as it stands.

Yeah - he is better out wide I think - tucking in keeps him in a crowded area, less room to use his quickness to take a player on 1-on-1
Its because Kane keeps drifting to the left or deep for some reason that Lucas feels, or has been told, he needs to lead the line. Really not working

Dunno how anyone can single out any players this half. They more or less all been way below par.
A bit harsh - given the first match of the season, many of the players just back to training on Tuesday. And the players who were here for pre-season all played a different formation in the friendlies.

I like what Dele is doing in a deeper role. I like that we have been a bit more aggressive in pressing. Aside from Ritchie's cross, I think the defense has played well.

I'd drop Sissoko - soon. And perhaps bring in Son for Kane or Dele - both look like they could tire in the second half.

Haven't been following the thread during the game, but a pretty comfortable 2-1 lead away at St James Park first game of the season and people are in tears?

Thought we look understandsbly preseason rusty but playing reasonably well.

Some rust for sure but that's obviously expected in the first game of the season.

Moura started brightly, lovely 2nd goal and we could have had more

Watching the game on Sky- nice to see Jamie ‘phlegmmaster’ Carragher looks set to make more appearances this year

But the reverse isn't true if you continue to ignore the good and only focusing on the bad

It's just that the bad is so prevalent and the good so fleeting that it isn't enough to change to consensus. Players can turn this around but it takes a lot more than the odd bit of good play (Kyle Walker for example).

Take Aurier in this game. He has shown poor play on numerous occasions and delivered an incredible cross. Is it enough to lay off him? Maybe, but really you need to see more of it and less of the nonsense.

Watching it in Crete, but with a road inbetween me and the screen, Sissoko doesn't seem to have done a lot wrong. A mate back in the UK has said that Kane has been very poor.

Just logged on, god I’ve missed this place. Thought the ITK thread was funny, not a patch on match day threads
