Looking back at this game and the last few games I think it is pretty obvious to see what has happened.

1. After we threw the 3 points away against Chelsea the players literally gave up, the title was gone and I think they have thought to themselves "Well we have champions league now so we have done our job" (not all players but certainly some and I think I have a good idea who as well) which brings me to my next point.

2. Saving themselves for the Euros, with the title gone I imagine quite a few players in our side have one eye in the Euros, I actually believe that some of them self sabotaged in order to get a rest ahead of it, I won't give you any names but I think you can figure it out.

3.We are mentally weak still, this much is evident, Poch knows it, we have some players in this side that never truly believed we could win the league and are looking behind us rather than forwards, this is a mentality that needs removing from this club because it's a black cloud constantly hanging over us.

On an unrelated note, we need some pretty big changes in the summer quite frankly, our squad depth is poor in terms of quality and the attitude shown by fringe players simply isn't good enough either, we need quality backup for Dembele as he is injury prone anyway and already out for the first four games as it is, we also need another top quality striker that we can maybe play alongside Harry or use to give him some rest because if Harry gets injured we are screwed.

We also need more attacking threat from wide positions and anothrr creative mid to challenge Eriksen for his spot.

And frankly we need all this done before we kick a ball next season, no more fucking about with transfers and deadline days, no long trips away before the first game of the season, we need to hit the ground running and not look back, a killer ruthless mentality.

Weeks ago I was feeling positive that would be the case but now I am not so sure, especially considering other teams will be vastly improved and going by history we are never fully prepared for the first game of the season and I see that being the case again.

Prove me wrong spurs, prove me wrong.
I agree that the Euros were on some minds. It may be why Lamela stayed focused throughout.

@TheHood : it's amusing that you keep giving me Spam comments given that you're the one coming out with Spam standard comments. Keep on missing the irony.

I wonder if Vertonghen may be one of the players who could leave this summer. We had that report linking us to Umtiti that really only made sense if we moved Wimmer or Vertonghen.

wouldn;t care.. he turned his back for their first goal... we've been poo at the back since his return .. WImmer has proven he can step up to be Toby;s partner

I am actually less angry than I was yesterday but I'm still angry.

Not angry that overall our season has been a success, not angry that we qualified for the Champions League.

I'm angry because of what could have been. As has been said we accumulated 2 points from our last 4 games - something which could be said to be relegation form.

Sure the team have had a truly great season (compared to what we have been used to) but there are some valid points to remember:-

The "big four" have virtually all had poor seasons by their standards (the scum included and they still finished above us).

We didn't have that many crucial injuries - imagine if Kane had got injured?

As I earlier stated 2 points from our last 4 games - this shows a big problem, as the performances in those 4 games were 75% poor. Is this really a mental thing (yesterday it seemed to be this + fatigue).

Yes we need strength in depth but we also need to overcome this inability to show nerve when it counts. I do actually believe that we have shown this during the season, but there is still a lot of work to be done.

What winds me up is that yesterday was for the fans! The seasons objective has been achieved by some margin! The club could be forgiven for thinking job done but yesterday was about thanking the support by giving them North London bragging rights, a chance to give something back! Fed up with seeing the hashtag #togetherthfc really didn't seem that at all yesterday. Poch shares some blame by telling everyone it's not important to finish above Ar***al and the players certainly listened!

Did we hit the wall due to the double sessions that get talked up.

Don't believe this at all. Look at the difference between the intensity in the Chelsea game (albeit wrongly channelled in the 2nd half) and the Southampton game 6 days later.

All about mentality and the fact our squad isn't deep enough.

Glad to see Poch apologise for the poor results and hopefully he can sort out whatever the issue is. I don't believe that certain players don't care, so can only put it down to fatigue. I put some blame on Alli and Dembele for not having the disipline, as I feel we would have got atleast 1 point with one of those available.

Anyway, time to calm down and look forward to a new season, with CL football and hopefully some new quality players. COYS!

I'm happy to be shot down about this, but I think that next season Lamela will do great things. He needs to have the confidence to take shots himself and not always defer to Kane.
