so can't remember the exact words, but Poch said something about his disappointment yesterday about his players and linking this to what he wants from the transfer window. This implies the attitude and/or ability of some players have led him to give up on them. But who?

I mean, aside from 2 or 3, the performance and attitude of nearly the whole team was rancid yesterday.

Questions on ability? - Carroll and Mason - some sympathy for Mason if he is carrying an injury, but has been awful since returning. Can see him being sold, won't get much for him. Equally Carroll I am sure he is trying his best, but he is a huge drop down from dembele/dier in the middle. Sell him, won't get much.

Questions on attitude? - Eriksen and Son - now I am not saying I want or believe either should be sold but if Poch feels let down by the attitude of some players, then shouldn't we be expecting a hell of a lot more from these two? Actually, while yes, there are some examples of players who joined a club, were poor for a while but then got better, There are just as many examples, if not more, of players who start poor, and carrying on being a disappointment. Son worries me because I don't like his attitude, he goes missing when a game isn't going our way or gets physical. I don't trust his mentality from what I have seen. Make the comparison with Lamela's early problems, he struggled but I never doubted his attitude, with Son I do very much doubt his attitude.

I am just wondering if any of our senior players went into Poch's black book yesterday....? Son? Eriksen? Vertonghen?

ramble over...

I think Carroll, Eriksen and Chadli are going to be looked at very closely re: attitude and mentality and/or ability. Mason will probably get a pass because he has been struggling with an injury.

There could be the odd surprise in there as we can't be sure what some of the lads are like off the pitch - I think there will be a cull on a small scale.

We need more competition in the midfield.

I think it is not difficult to see from the way certain player played in the actual games and how they chased down opponents... ability is one thing, attitude is another.. we know for certain some players just keep running and made some important and at times silly fouls.. some just sprinted for running sake but once gotten passed, just made no attempts to chase further...

I highly doubt Poch will just look at training to determine someone's mental attitude.. (gone the days when Jenas was kept being selected, finally) similarly, it won't be just actual games that Poch saw that will ship them out.. certain players in question have very capable abilities, and I think Poch will have a very truthful and transparent talks with these players..

now I wonder why some of the players' re-contract news just have not been announced.. I think it is valid to put them all on hold for further reassessment..

Why Eriksen.. He's by far our most creative outlet we have.. Son, Chadli, Mason, Carroll are not good enough for a team competing for title and regular top 4 finish.

He certainly is, most assists apart from Ozil.
No one can doubt his quality but many of us definitely doubt his mentality.

I've tried to calm down and retain a clear head before offering my opinion and maybe others will be the judge of how well I've achieved that aim or whether I have failed miserably but here goes....
Poch and Kane were absolutely spot on to be apologetic.

Yesterday's performance was an absolute disgrace. I don't even think that Villa managed to let in 3 goals in that space of time when they had 11 men against an opposition with 10 and that was against a team already relegated. That's how bad this overall performance was, when we were trying to maintain 2nd place at the expense of our arch rivals. I've not even mentioned the first half but that too was way below acceptable.

I can see the gist of what Poch said earlier in the week but let's be honest, when you haven't finished above Arsenal since 1994-95 it DOES matter putting that wrong right !!! Then you put it aside and move on.
The only crumb of comfort I drew encouragement from were the last few sentences of Poch's interview where he seemed to be implying that he knew how decisive he was going to be in putting things right and ensuring that bad attitude is well and truly confined to the past. This needs to happen quickly and decisively, and if this was also code for I know who I want to get rid of and where to strengthen then Daniel Levy take note. It's no use waiting till the end of August hanging on for unrealistic bucks to ship out the deadwood whilst also holding out for cheap deals on buying in. We need to be decisive and the new recruits need to be brought in and have the appropriate pre-season training for us to get off to a flyer.

Unicorn pie In the sky unfortunately

Not how we deal with big major transfers majority of the time
I'm sure, no positive we'll still be hoping for 2 big much needed transfers to happen deep into August

When the team played well in earlier games, they deserved all the kudos that they received.

With such a shambolic display yesterday, they deserve all the brickbrats.

We only needed 3 points from 12 to end up above our greatest rivals and we screwed up.

The players were earning the same wages as they were 5 games ago so why couldn't they perform the same way as they did earlier.

We may have overachieved our pre-season target but lets not disguise the fact that we were thrashed by a relegated team.

We've not conceded more than 2 league goals all season but now we concede 3 goals (and 5 in all), against a 10-man relegated team.

Inexcusable.

I hope the mgmt gets adequate cover, in the summer, for the first team before the next season starts.

In terms of physical stature and natural talent, sadly Mason just isn't fit to lace the boots of Dembele or Alli. That is why we need to upgrade. I had hoped he would make a step up, but he just doesn't seem capable. The common theme for almost all of our poor performances this year was that Mason or Carroll were involved. They just aren't good enough, end of.

I actually think in the middle part of the season Carrol played very well for a good number of games that we also won well. I do agree though that pretty much every time Mason has played this season either the team or he plays poorly, Everton at home excluded.

Where he missed yet another guilt edge chance to turn 1 point into 3.

Our defenders don't throw themselves in from of shots like Chelsea players, they just turn away.

I like Vertonghen's close your eyes and cower like a little girl approach.

Fucking pathetic display all round.

Rather than calm down the longer it's been since that shit show the more annoyed I am about it.
