Simple we r awful without ce even though he's not been great. The signing of llorente shows what an amateur club we are he is truly awful not his problem we don't play anywhere near close his strengths and we have made a very good player with strength in the air look very very basic. We cannot see what is right in front of us... Striker, fast wide player and some sort of creative cover for eriksen.. That's what we need... We all see it yet nothing happens...
That was back in the early 1900's. We won the FA Cup then. Ask @TheChosenOne . He was there. :D

Poor performance. Take the result.

I have had too many poor results down the years - Cardiff in the 70s, Bradford, Port Vale, Notts County, etc in the 80s and 90s, Leeds, Grimsby recently - and a draw is more acceptable than being eliminated.

The Grimsby results was 12 years ago...does that count as recent?

We DID try and play tippy tappy around the edge of our goal area when we were being pressed in.
We got caught because of it. Players wanted too much time on the ball and it was so fkin slow, again, it was embarrassing.
We seem to have forgotten the aim of the game is to score and the oppositions goal is up the other end of the fkin pitch.

What and you think poch told them to play slowly and take too many touches?

That’s how he set us up. To play our normal passing game. We always build slowly and pressure teams with tonnes of possession football. Was never going to work today.

So true, it's been same in so many games start too slow, they need a fucking rocket at times. So sloppy this season.

You have to ask why Llorente was purchased, he's not our type of player. I almost feel sorry for him.
Last minute desperation buy. Clear as day. Couldn't get who we wanted for what ever reason so scraped the barrel for whoever was attainable. Thats obvious in that he doesn't fit Pochs usual purchase type and we hadnt had any links until the bid was accepted. I actually think he'd have made a better decision going to Chelsea for him in terms of tactical fit and game time. Whereas we needed a more dynamic striker.

Some thoughts:

Both Wanyama and Dembele look miles from their best, they were outfought and outmuscled by their Newport counterparts which for me was the most worrying aspect of the match. You couldn't imagine that happening last season.

In the first half they consistently got in down our left side, Walker Peters wasn't tucking round properly I suspect.

Llorente is just a terrible, terrible player - I can't believe he has a WC winners medal...you can see why he ended up going to Swansea on a free, looks about his level to be honest.

In the end it was a lucky draw and you would think we will get through in the home leg. The bigger concerns are an extra fixture we didn't need and the fact that we have a run of games against high level opposition coming up where the same players will be playing.

If we play anything like the level we played at tonight we will get embarrassed at home to United.

You do realise it was a cup game?

Fair play to the plucky fuckers.... They were excellent.

We'll fuck em up at Wembley and that's the reality.

Now everyone, quit yapping. It's done.

Jay Rodriguez?

I've been wondering why Poch didnt go in for him (has history with him at Southampton). Wasnt even aware he had moved to West Brom. I see he's scoring a few at the moment too. I think he is far more suited to our style of play vs Llorente.

When people say Sossoko did ok or had a good game i accept what they are saying but i think they are missing the overall effect he is having on our team.

Its very possible for a player to play well whilst stifling outlets for the other footballers who then look off the pace. Time after time you can see a reasonably fluid set of moves break down as a player unthinkingly almost plays a ball to Sissoko but has a quick look for an alternative or outright tries to switch play. The amount of times he misplaces a pass in attacking moves has actually become embarressing.

Sissoko can ALWAYS pass the ball to another one of our players because they are all capable at this level (the fact so many of his passes are poor notwithstanding) and thus HE can look like he's playing well.

If Sossoko starts, Tottenham start with less than 11 footballers.

If he plays well Tottenham have 10 and 3/4 players on the pitch.
If he plays averagely Tottenham have 10 and a 1/2 players on the pitch.
If he plays badly Tottenham have 10 and a 1/4 players on the pitch.
(It was the same with Soldado and Janssen but both of them brought something more to the game)

Its very hard to carry that.

I feel no animosity towards the guy, in fact he seems quite nice and i haven't heard any complaints out of him, but to me the only acceptable time for him to be on the pitch is when we are ALREADY 2 or 3 goals to the good and we need to rest a better player.

The best moment came when the commentator said “Sissoko cuts into the box menacingly” who then proceeds to misplace a backwards pass towards Dembele straight to a Newport midfielder. Classic.

Had me laughing when he miscontrolled a ball to a team mate. Stats will record it as a completed pass.
