First things first. Overall we've done well in the transfer market and brought in some very good players.

Our defence is certainly stronger with the additions of Gomes and Corluka. We now have a keeper who looks like he can control his area and instill some confidence in the defence.

Corluka is a good player who gives us great strength in depth at CB, RB and possibly DM too. I'm less worried about the long term fitness of King, Woodgate and Hutton with his arrival plus he is Prem proven and Luka's mate all of which are big plusses.

Midfield has also been improved upon from last season. The arrivals of Modric, Bentley and Dos Santos and the added class they bring are certainly steps in the right direction. All three are very accomplished technical footballers and once they settle in, it should see us contol games from midfield, something we haven't done since we sold Carrick and moved Davids on.
The emergence of O'Hara, improved fitness of Huddlestone plus the presence of Zokora, Lennon and Jenas ensure healthy competition for places and give us plenty of options in all the midfield areas.

However as always seems to be the case with Spurs, just as we plug a leak in one area another springs up somewhere else. This time last year we had 4 top class strikers in Berbatov, Keane, Defoe and Bent. Now we have Bent, Pavluychenko and Campbell (and possibly Dos Santos).

Bent was 4th choice last season and is still to convince for Spurs. Pav's goal scoring record is great in Russia, but can it translate over here? We all hope it does but he needs to hit the ground running if the team are to have success. Campbell is an untried youngster at this level and despite success in the championship there is no guarantee that he has what he takes to succeed for Spurs or anyone else in the Prem. Dos Santos is an in the hole forward at best and is another who needs time to settle. Robbie Keane he is not at the moment.

I understand the situation we had with Keane and Berbatov wanting to leave and we've done well to get big money for them both. But have we replaced them adequately? The Keane situation was obviously a surprise and disappointment but I think everyone knew that Berbatov wanted out a long time ago. I assume that Pav is his replacement, which should be ok in the long run but he's cup-tied for the UEFA Cup. What happens if Bent gets injured? Or even both of them which isn't unfeasible? A strike force of Campbell and Dos Santos is hardly gonna strike fear into the hearts of the rest of the league is it?

It's difficult replacing players like Keane and especially Berbatov. But many fans are properly f**ked off with what has happened in the last 24 hours and many don't think we have a strikforce capable of getting us anywhere near the top 6, nevermind the top 4.

I never thought I'd said say this, but having been linked with Heskey I wished we'd signed him rather than not sign anyone. Unless we are amazingly lucky with injuries and form then we're gonna struggle up front.

I'm hoping we sign a striker in January.......

Pavel did very well against the England defence. If he can trouble Terry and Rio like that, he should have no trouble in the Prem.

Our 4 strikers were a modern marvel, but we were never able to keep them all happy. Maybe a little careless to lose all 3, but we got 1 replacement and two half replacements. Thing is, we are judging before these players have trained and played together. The best players don't always make the best partnerships. Keane and Berbs were dynamite together, Teddy & Shearer, Gudjonson & Hasslebank, yet Keane and Torres is not working. Perhaps we could do a Man City and buy back Keane in Jan for 1/2 they paid. In fact Liverpool seems to be a strikers graveyard with the exception of Torres.
