Northumberland Park Station

Hi everyone,

Been a long time since I've posted anything on here!

I'm heading to the Villa game on Sunday 3rd October. We live in Ipswich so are getting the train to Liverpool Street and then onto Northumberland Park. I just wondered what it's like trying to get into the station after the game and how long it takes to get onto the platform? My son has autism so queuing etc. can be a nightmare, not sure if there are separate entrances for those with disabilities (the stadium has them which are excellent)?

Do extra trains get put on for matchdays at all?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere but I couldn't find anything.

Either leave 5 mins before the end to steal a march, or just take your time after the match. Applaud the players, hang around the bar areas with the bands, go to the shop etc. An hour or so after the final whistle it'll have died down

I tend to head off to Meridian Water ( the next station on from Northumberland park)
which is near IKEA- it’s a 20-25 minute walk but no queues and guaranteed a seat (but it’s our secret!!)

Seems weird that Saturday service from Meridien Water into Liverpool St you have to change at Tottenham Hale but Sunday service is direct, why ?

Just a heads up, the last couple of games have been ok especially bearing in mind that for the City game I think the White Hart Lane line was closed, you won't likely walk straight in but you can get up to just outside the staion and only wait a couple of minutes. Even if there is a bigger crowd then they will hold you at the bottom of park lane and let you cross the main road to the station when it's clearer the benefit of that is that it's not one long contiuous queue.
The heads up is that to get to the London bound platform you have to walk over a new bridge that is a zig zag up a steady easy gradient of about six levels, it's open sided but obviously under cover of the ramp above but the benefit is that you are always walking, it sort of spreads the crowd rather than making them stand queueing before entering which may be good for your son.

I'm assuming you may not have used this route to the new stadium before, if not sorry if I'm teaching me grandmother to suck eggs.

Thanks everyone. We usually wait until most have left after the final whistle and then leave. I haven’t been on the train to WHL in about 15 years, but all I can think of how the huge queues there used to be at Wembley to get the tube. Is it anything as bad as this?

If we left the stadium at 4pm for example, would you likely get onto the platform for the 16.42 to Liverpool Street? Not sure how many use Northumberland Park on match day, or if any extra trains get put on?

No mate it's a million miles from that.
I left a few minutes after the final whistle on Sunday, got to the station at quarter past four and caught the 16:21 to Stratford. Plenty of trains too, some of the trains that wouldn't normally stop at Northumberland park do stop on matchdays.

The queues going into London are much shorter than the ones going the other way, so hopefully you'll be ok.

I always get a march on as soon as final whistle goes and I walk onto the train which is never full
