Team News

Us: Surprise recalls for Pat Jennnings, Dave Mackay, Mike England and the late Danny Blanchflower. Darren Anderton trained but is out with a bib-related injury.

Them: With only Ryan Nelson and someone called "B Berner" out Rovers have a full squad to call on. Strange physioroom doesn't mention Stephen Reid, who's been out for ages.

Form

Over a quarter of the season gone and we are still in single figures points-wise. Who remembers that old joke from the 80s when we had a similarly terrible start? What's the difference between Spurs and the Star of David? The Star of David has six points. We've only just scraped past that, but with 4 draws from the last six games we are running at sub-relegation level.

Blackburn are doing much better than us. They've won five of their ten games and have equalled the start they made in 1994/95 when they won the Premiership. They haven't beaten us since a 1-0 home win in 2003 but that's not the kind of sign that holds any weight these days. Rovers have won their last five games in all competitions.

Runes

Last season we drew 1-1 in our penultimate game, with Nob Styles in charge. That was a disappointment. A similar result Sunday would be a leap forward.

Our home League is 27 wins, 9 losses and 7 draws. In the Prem only it's 6/4/3. None of this means anything. We're going to lose I just know it.

Adjudication

Just when you thought it couldn't get worse - let's nail that myth right now. As in last season's 1-1 draw, the ref for Sunday is ROB STYLES! The self-promoting little runt will be waddling around drawing attention to himself at every available opportunity. Last term the Nobster also presided over our 3-1 loss at Reading, our 2-1 win at Citeh, our CC win against Southend and our 1-0 loss at Chelsea. Ooh, Styles in Chelsea win non-shocker. In 9 games so far he's flashed 42 cards, including four reds.

Predictions

Lawro: What has happened at Tottenham this season has been nothing short of daft. I still find it strange that Spurs have got rid of Martin Jol, considering what he has done there the last two seasons. The question is how Spurs react to his departure, but l think they have good quality and can turn it on at home, even against a strong, organised Blackburn side that will be tough to break down. Prediction: 2-1

Sky: Tottenham are currently languishing in the bottom three, part of the reason for the departure of Martin Jol, but victory could see them leap six places in the table. Blackburn - whose manager Mark Hughes has ruled out a link with the Spurs vacancy - are sitting pretty in sixth knowing that victory could move them into the top-four. Prediction: 1-2.

Me: Despite my admiration for what Clive Allen has done for the reserves (particularly on Tuesday), I think there is just too much wrong to be put right in two days. Form, formation, tactics and effort have all been poor of late and short of taking relatives hostage I can't see how any fires can be lit under our players. If they couldn't do it against Getafe I doubt it'll all miraculously come good against a well-drilled Blackburn side. Another defeat for us, and possibly not a narrow one.

Stats and Facts

This is (allegedly) our last game before the next future ex-manager takes charge.

We have hit the post or bar SIX TIMES this season, more than any other Prem team.

We have let in FOUR GOALS in stoppage time this season costing us FIVE POINTS.

A set piece? We couldn't defend a EUNUCH ON A RAPE CHARGE.

Despite any statistical evidence that could be produced to the contrary, CHIMBONDA has been SHIT THIS SEASON.
