I agree with him. I think yesterday's target should remain firmly in the past. I don't see how Zaha fits into a Pochettino team already full of AM alternatives. There might have been a time in the past when getting Zaha was quite OK an idea, but we've moved on I hope.
On other point we really need to sort out the full backs. We have lost far to many games this season very unlike Poch ( was impressed with Foyth against City at right back far better Trippier defensively)
O'Hara: “Zaha is a fantastic player and a great prospect".
Prospect? Uh, no. Those days are over. 27 at the start of next season. He's a player who stands or falls on his merits now.
If Poch could Sissoko him for similar money, maybe, but at that age and (still) with questions about consistency and ultimate utility, any more would be kinda nuts. I suspect Poch and Levy would see it the same - 50, 60, 70 etc. is not viable.
His ability is hard to question (yet I still do, but that's my prerogative). His attitude/mentality is a different story altogether.
Like many before them, Trippier & Sissoko showed that, by continually giving him sly nudges, clips on the ankles & whispering in his ear. He totally lost the plot & all direction, and his possible influence on the game was easily nipped in the bud.
Being courted by us & getting glowing praise from most of the football world, he ignored all of it & signed a fat new contract, only to decide 9 months later that his ability is beyond them and he wants to be playing at a CL club.
When asked about those CL comments, Jenas hit the nail square on the head on MOTD2 last night. "It just doesn't sit right with me. It's like he's instigating all of this rather than letting it happen. He signed a huge contract but now wants to leave".
Forget Zaha, we should be going for Ryan Sessegnon, he is younger and would probably be less expensive than Zaha who lets not forget is 27. I think Ryan Sessegnon is a great player he is more versatile and can play either left wing back or as a all out left winger.
Brilliant player but since we bought Lucas I don't really see the point in spending big on him when we have higher priorities elsewhere.
We need to seriously strengthen CM, replace Eriksen, Toby and Llorente (probably) and buy at least 1 FB before we think about spending huge on a tricky forward player like Zaha.
That said, Poch is a huge fan and he would give us some serious attacking depth if he replaced Lamela...
He would get in the side and none of us know yet what kind of player he would be under Poch. We can almost assume it would be a much better one though.
