I am lucky enough to be reffing a game on the sacred turf on Sunday evening after Liverpool game.

Somebody hired WHL last Tuesday but due to a down pour the groundsman called it off.

The pitch being ripped up on Wednesday so there is very little spare time to re-arrange this game so the club have said they can have a 19.30 kick off.

This will be the 5th game I have reffed there over the last few seasons.

The game is due to finish at just before 5pm then there is the Lap of Honour which could be half an hour or so and I have been told to be at reception at 6.30 so I may bump into a few of the players.

what game are you reffing? what games have you reffed in the past?

It's a corporate hire (aprox 12 grand).

Last week's game was a bunch of City traders and their clients.

Previously I have done a couple of staff games, coaches, IT staff etc.

Jol came and watched once, the morning afte we'd played Bolton on the last day of the season and qualified for Europe.

Had a great time last night, sadly we couldn;t get access to the tunnel area until all the players had left though.

Saw Robbo leaving the car park very soon after the parade though.

I am off to ref another game this afternoon, Puma have a game.

what at spurs??

Yes.

Had another great time, managed to blag a new home shirt (the players one with 2 mesh layers), a Yellow Goalie shirt and entire Black 3rd kit from the head honcho at Puma.

Best of all none had Mansion's logo so my gear if free of Red logo's!!!

Am doing 2 more games there today before they rip up the pitch tomorrow.

Nice

Why do they rip up the pitch?

I'm no gardener, but our pitch looks fine... is it not easier just to "re do" the current one rather than start from scratch?

They put in some attractive topiary in over the summer, water features, pebble pathways and so forth. Keeps the groundsmen busy while they're waiting for August.

The reason it looks so good, is that it's a new turf every season. Don't question our groundsman, he's only won awards the last few seasons on the trot!

Yeah, I know, our pitch is always perfect, but I assumed that it was kept over summer... just wondering the technicalities...

Well the highlight of my games on Tuesday was the Q&A with Pat Jennings after the game as we ate in the Oak Room. Had my picture taken with the great man and the League Cup.

You lucky guys getting to play on professional pitches, all I get is mud with a bit of grass on a Sunday :-(

I guess I'm just not in with the correct circles!

Never mind about anyone buying a bit of the turf being ripped up as was mentioned in a previous post.

How about asking if we can have some to put in a little box or case to auction towards our SC funding?
