Hope he comes back and knuckles down. Think he has a very high ceiling if he can get his mentality right and shows enough fight. Needs a chance in CM to show what he can do. If he can follow Harry Winks lead he'll be a very good player.

I've always thought he looks like a player who can make the grade. His problem has been lack of games so the loan spell may do him good. In the short term probably just a squad player but worth having if he keeps improving.

Personally... I think he needs to improve on his finishing and final ball. There is a role for him in the team as an advance midfield player... The role in which we see Son, Eriksen and Alli in. (We have seen Eriksen in a deeper role lately, but more or less it's the men behind Kane)

The main issue is he needs to increase his goals and assist. 10 games 3 goals and 1 assist isn't really enough to prove he is worthy of being backup for them. But if he really put in the effort. I am sure he will get his chance. We have seen glimces of the player he can be. We just got to hope we will mature into a player we can rely on.

Not writing him off just yet.

His proper position is deeper lying. Don't know why Villa keep playing him at AM but it's not where he's at his best.

This seems to be the mantra for Onomah, but how often has he actually played there?

I'm not saying it's wrong, I'm just not sure when it is that people have seen him play in this role regularly.

Youth team and throughout his development.

But he's not ever played there at a higher level right? Even when I've seen him with the England u21s he seems to play further forwards.

If he's supposed to be a deeper lying midfielder it needs to happen very soon otherwise he won't properly move to that position.

i only remember that he was an "attacking midfielder right" on the old FM i played.... always thot he was a right winger. like lennon and townsend. bascially right mid in a 4-4-2

but we don't have position in our squad any more. actually most teams play a modified 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 or 5-4-1

i have seen him playing behind the striker for Villa, in a much more advance position. but he does drop back to midfield. also seem him in both the left and right flank, more of a free position like Siggy/Eriksen. which.... imo is a really tough position to play.

maybe some value in him being able to slot into different positions. but i have never really seen him in a deeper role.
