If it was leaked, the question has to be how many people knew Jol had been sacked before he did? One would expect information of this type to have been restricted, pretty much on pain of death. The leak must either came from the Board or the Ramos camp. So who had the most to gain?

I have often wondered why the Spanish press would have recognised Kemsley and Alexander, unless of course someone who was expecting to see them was there to point them out. Of course at that stage Ramos was still try to squueeze a new contract out Sevilla on the basis of his recent achievements, and news that he was being courted by other clubs would not have weakened his position. Doubtless neither Ramos nor his agent Torres had expected such firm interest or such a 'dazzling offer'. Since then contract negotiations willhave continued, and no doubt were nearing completion, but I wonder if there may not have still beem some outstanding issues? Of course, so long as Jol was still in post, the Board would have had a reasonably strong bargaining position. However the premature leaking of the news of Jol's departure meant that Board had no option but to close the deal on whatever terms Torre's was asking for his client.

Ramos has now been installed in a position of enormous strength. We simply cannot afford to sack him. If he does not get his own way, I wonder if the Board will find him such a gentleman as Martin Jol has been. I think for certain members of the Board their problems could be just beginning.

My, my, straight out of the Alistair Campbell spin doctoring template. If that had been written by some journo, I'm sure a decent chunk of those trying to absolve Levy of incompetence would tear the piece apart.

My favourite bit of this joke of a letter is the "football management group", this is where all our problems have risen from, we need a manager who identifies who he wants and then Levy should try to get them. If Jol or now Ramos disagree on a particular player guess what happens if Levy and his two brown noses say yes, coach stuck with a player he clearly doesn't want.

It's been well documented that Levy knows little or nothing about football, what the hell is he doing in a football management group, your a money man Daniel stick to what you know, he seems like many chairman past and present in football who poke there nose into the footballing side, instead of leaving it to the experts.

Some interesting navel gazing going on here , but far and away the main thing is that Levy has managed to attract a genuine top rated European coach ( In the list of 5 managers just named as running for European manager of the year) to an unsuccessful club currently in a relegation position.

The most important event at the Arse in the last 20 yrs was getting Wenger in...

..So lets look at the bigger picture

Just maybe we have OUR Wenger now installed .

Levy has created this possibility , this is not a time for sniping at the man .

jol knew at the very latest by the time he got to the game like most spurs fans...levy can't add to the embarassment of how he has handled all this by admitting he allowed a lame duck manager to still be in charge for a uefa cup game which the club went on to lose and put the chances in the comp in jeopardy...jol was never going to resign and miss out on his cash...all this crap about him never wanting to quit was not for love of the club but for the fat cheque he was going to get

Why the hell should he have resigned?

What for 2 fifth place finishes and having the best record of any manager of our club for 25 years!!

He did not want to resign, because if he had done that, he had not got his compensation package.

I'm sorry but, thats just fucking crap. There is not a person on this forum that would resign and miss out on any compensation. The board wanted him gone so to do that they have to pay the remainder of his contract.

The trouble with Levy releasing another statement like this is that however truthful it may be, the majority of fans are going to take it with a massive pinch of salt...

Eventually, if Ramos can lead us to more success than Jol did, then this whole shambles will be pushed to the back of our minds, but Levy's got a long way to go before he regains the full support that he had before...

Why don't you trust him?

The only thing we know for certain that he did was send Kelmsley to Ramos, and he's held his hands up about that and said that it was dealt with badly.

Any other bad opinions you have about him are probably because of the press. Don't tell me you trust them?!?
What do you think the phone call Kelmsley got during the second half was about where he laughed (while Spurs were burning) and passed on the info to Levy who had the cheshire cat smug smile on his face. Looked like Kelmsley was laughing at his victory over Jol. The defeat looked like icing on the cake to Kelmsley. Strange also how accurate the ITK reports were a full 4 hours before it "broke". Never trust someone that rich. All we can hope for is that Spurs the football club is successful while these money men make more fortunes as they repackage Spurs PLC for sale.

The thing is, as much as we all love Jol, if we're sitting third from bottom it's simply not good enough. I argued all I could with people who said Jol should go - he made miracles happen in 2 years straight but then people expected way too much imo. I agrued with goons, with mancs and with other Yiddos.

Some people said he dserved the boot. Whichever way we look at this though, something wasn't right about the way BMJ was treated in this whole situation. We all loved him and he had a fantastic rappour with us.

Delve deeper and there were clearly issues that left Daniel Levy with few options. Of course he went about it in the wrong way, and I am angry about that and I am angry that Martin Jol's face aged about 10 years in the 2-3 years he was our Manager! Jol was in love with our club - no doubt about that..

However, from Levy's 'business' point of view - clearly fitness issues with the team, issues amongst the board and mainly issues in training and with individual players simply caused us to look pathetic. It's been all about us for a while now, from Jol seemingly not liking Defoe to the Ghaly episode and most recently the obvious aggrovation between Jol & Berbatov. All bad press and bad for the team spirit!

We really need to try and move on. Remember football is a business for people like Levy. It's about profit and that comes from silverware and TV - we're hardly ever on right now! If we don't perform, that naturally will effect profit margins.

What we need to look at is the fact that we already have the key parts of our new coaching team on board. This means that we can begin a rise up the league and hopefully progress in the cups. These are the things to focus on now for us fans.

I do of course hope Levy has learnt from this though. I also wish Martin Jol every success at his new club (unless it's Chelski)!
