Bradford loan for Oscar

08 August 2011

Oscar Jansson has signed a contract extension with the Club until 2012 and has agreed to join League Two side Bradford City on loan for one month.

The young Sweden goalkeeper joined our Academy in January 2008 and has since enjoyed loan spells with Exeter City and Northampton Town.

Thought he had been released this summmer after appearing to go backwards - a couple of years ago he appeared in several pre-season Spurs X1 matches but has not done that for 2 years - but obviously I was wrong. At 20 he really needs game time so hope the loan is extended from one month for several months or the season. Good luck to him anyway !

Hopefully he can make an impression, and perhaps extend his loan for the full season. He played quite a lot for Northampton but then went out of the picture

He's playing against Leeds tonight (Sky Sports 2). Was a bit unlucky with the Leeds goal, got a good hand to it but it went in off the bar.

Currently 1-1

he played well tonight making a number of good saves. read the game well and had good positional sense. city fans took to him quickly. very unlucky with the winning goal as the skipper nicked it away from him.

city have jansson for a month and also hanson from liverpool for a month. liverpool would not let hanson play in cup. citys other keeper is 21. of the two loaness jansson looks the better fit.

it will be interesting who jackson will select - on this performance jansson should nick it.

Bradford have allowed loanee goalkeeper Oscar Jansson to return to Tottenham before the expiration of his deal following the arrival of Matt Duke.

The 20-year-old linked up with Bradford on a one-month loan during the first week of the season and his shoot-out heroics helped the club defeat Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. But the signing of Duke, who has Premier League experience from his seven years with Hull, meant the Bantams could not justify keeping Jansson at Valley Parade.

Manager Phil Parkinson told the club's official website: "I'd firstly like to thank Oscar for all his efforts during his time here. In the short period I've been at the club, he has been no problem at all and always trained in a professional manner."Unfortunately for Oscar, though, we cannot sustain three goalkeepers on our books at the moment with Dukey [Matt Duke] and Jon [McLaughlin] here as well."I am sure fans will remember Oscar fondly, especially thanks his penalty saves in the Sheffield Wednesday match."

Jansson done very well at Bradford however Bradford have their keeper returning from injury and have signed Matt Duke so it's probably right that Jansson returns. I'm sure another League 2 club will be in for him.

Wasn't Duke at Hull when they were in the PL? Had some very good games for them iirc, that is a freakin' coup for a League 2 club like Bradford.

Yeah he's a quality keeper especially for League 2, Hull fans wanted him to resign as they thought he was decent enough to play in the Championship.
