While not our youth graduate, still ex-player who was with us as rather young, Hallfresson is in Serie A with Hellas Verona playing alongside some more famous oldtimers including Rafa Marquez, Luca Toni and Saviola.

Simon Dawkins was another plagued by injuries. He and Maghoma were part of the clear out of the development squad that Harry undertook at the end of his first season to create space for the Mason-Townsend generation - as I recall only Livermore and Button were retained. After failing trials home and abroad, Simon wound up back at Spurs a year later and was allowed to train with us. Tim was impressed enough to offer him a contract, and David Beckham, who was also training with us, persuaded him to try his luck on loan in the MLS. In two seasons he did enough to catch the eye of Steve McLaren, who, after flirting with taking him to Twente and QPR, finally gave him his chance at Derby. He is now through to the quarter finals of the League Cup, having bagged a brace in the previous round, and could well be playing in the Premiership next season. It is an inspirational story for young profesionals.

Also through to the quarter finals are Bournemouth pair Charlie Daniels and Adam Smith. Daniels a leftback of lung busting stamina with a wand of a left foot has been a mainstay for them, but was rested for the cup game, the regular rightback moving across and creating a space for former England U21 Smith, who has been struggling for starts. Bournemouth are also looking decent candidates for promotion.

Good post,

I've also loosely followed Dawkins career, he certainly won't give in to his dream of making it as a professional. I have always wished him all the best and it would be a fantastic achievement for him to become a regular EPL player.

I think moves to leagues like the MLs, or my country (AUS) can be a good thing for players, get out of the UK, away from their mates, get themselves some first team football, build up some confidence and make a return with a new sense of purpose and greater knowledge of what is required to be a professional player.

Rohan Ricketts, well actually neither our graduate (but from Arsenal), but still one who played with us as rather young player has become quite a globetrotter having played besides various English clubs also at Canada (Toronto FC, MLS), Hungary, Moldova, lower tier Germany, Ireland, India, Ecuador and most recently at Thailand this year. Yannick Kamanan who probably counts as graduate has also traveled his share having first returned to France for few clubs, has since played in Belgium, Swizerland, Israel, Turkey, Azerbaijan and now in Cyprus. Former teenage prodigy Owen Price whose progress was hampered by injuries tried at Sweden and Finland with little success for return to non-league Football in England. Has probably quitted few seasons ago.

Oh, and Darren Caskey has returned as a player after 4 years absence in the game as assistant manager / player as high as in Conference for Gateshead. Though has only played at friendly according wiki. His son plays for Brighton and England U21.

Oh, and Jamie O'Hara has finally found a new team after his Wolverhampton nightmare and has just signed for Blackpool.

Good stuff. Always had a lot of time for O'Hara - excellent attitude/work-rate and pretty useful with the football as well. Definitely think his lack of pace and injury/fitness problems mean that he's not cut out for a side in the top half of the PL, but he wouldn't look out of place at any of the sides in the lower-to-midtable PL and certainly he'd be a tidy player for anyone in the Championship. Surprised that a side better placed than Blackpool hasn't taken a chance on him, tbh.

Chris Day is still playing and was regular with Stevenage last season on league one. Played his sole PL game for us on Gerry Francis days 95-96. Seems lifetime ago.

Chris Day never actually played a competitive first team game for Spurs - was on subs bench on numerous occasions but never used. He did play in the Intertoto Cup in 95-96. He's had a lengthy career away from WHL and still in the Stevenage team.

Because he can't be fucked any more.

With the start of a new season, I thought I might update this thread looking at player who were involved in the lower leagues this weekend, either in the first 11 or on the bench. Therefore, this list doesn't include successful players in the Championship like Pritchard and Grant Hall or anyone else who missed out through injury. Nor does it include players like John Bostock who is playing in the lower leagues in France or the many playing in Scotland.

Championship.

Ryan Federicks, 24 (RB) - Fulham

Ryan has established himself as the first choice RB of the team often bombing down the flanks. While Fulham fans largely agree Sessegnon is the key player of the team in a guardian article previewing the new season a fan explains that he is

'Intrigued by the mercurial and somewhat enigmatic Ryan Fredericks. His pace and athleticism make him one of the most feared full-backs in the league. On his day he is unplayable. It’s just his day does not come often enough. If he can kick on this year, he could have a really bright future'.
https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/aug/04/championship-fans-clubs-preview-season-2017-2018

He played the full 90 minutes the other day in an unfortunate draw with Norwich.

David Button, 28 (GK) - Fulham

David Button really came to prominence as part of Warburton's Brentford team that were promoted into championship and made the playoffs unexpectedly. Since then he established himself as a top championship goalkeeper. He left for Fulham last season and first choice ever since, playing the whole game this weekend.

Massimo Luongo, 24 (CM) - QPR

An Australian football hero, that many thought was released too early from spurs. He most famous for scoring in the 2014 Asian cup final and winning player of tournament as Australia lifted the cup for the first time in their history. Such is his international reputation he was put on the long list for Ballon d'Or in 2015. He has never quite replicated the same level in club football.

One of the many ex-Spurs players to play for Swindon he was voted into league one team of the year 2014-2015 he earned a move to QPR in a £3.5m deal. He has got better and better in the last two seasons at QPR. Popular with fans there some see him as a future captain though yet to fulfill his potential. He was listed in Guardian as QPR's One to Watch.

Jacques Maghoma, 29 (AM) - Birmingham City

Now established both as a DR Congo international and Championship player he started this weekend for Birmingham. Phenomenal for Burton Albion, then league two making the team of the year in that division in 2012-2013 he earned a move to the championship, then with Sheffield Wednesday. He spent two mediocre seasons in Sheffield Wednesday before Birmingham gave him a chance. Now he plays regularly, though often used as an impact sub.

Jordon Archer, 24 (GK) - Millwall

Still young for a goalkeeper, the Millwall player of the season in 2015/2016 is experiencing his first taste of championship football. Established as first choice in Millwall he will be hoping for a good season and maybe sneak a call up to Scottish national team.

Grant Ward, 22 (AM/CM/RM) - Ipswich

Ward never known for scoring goals in youth football comes on for his debut for Ipswich at half time scores a hattrick and hasn't left the first team since. After a few successful but unspectacular loan spells he has settled in Ipswich, originally playing as a winger these days he often plays much deeper in Central midfield as Mick McCarthy moved to a system with 5 at the back. \He still doesn't score many goals.

League 1

Luke McGee 21 (GK) - Portsmouth

Had a great loan spell last season at Peterborough replacing former Tottenham legend Ben Alnwick he now moved permanently to Portsmouth. Shame to release him as he clearly has a lot of promise, but he is wasted playing for Spurs reserves. He started this weekend for Portsmouth after we seemed to have ignored any approach from Peterborough for him. Wonder what happened there...

Dean Parrett 25 (AM) - AFC Wimbledon

The former wonder kid has recently moved up to League one level. Often considered Stevenage's most dangerous player in league two he moved to AFC Wimbledon last season and seemingly had a solid season. He started from the bench this weekend but clearly remains part of Wimbledon's plans this season.

Andy Barcham 30 (RW) - AFC Wimbledon

Barcham has had a successful lower league career as a winger, never flopping anywhere. Making his name at Gillingham he has yo-yoed between league one and league two, with S****horpe, Portsmouth and now Wimbledon. He has normally been on the first team sheet. Had good game this weekend as Wimbledon were unlucky to draw against his former team, S****horpe.

Jonathan Obika 26 (ST) - Oxford United

The former breakthrough player of the season for Tottenham and perpetual loanie, mostly to Yeovil town, settled down as permanent player for Swindon. Regularly on the team sheet but rarely on the scoresheet he served well for Swindon in his three seasons there. As his contract run out last season and Sherwood got Swindon relegated to League two he moved to Oxford United. This weekend he came on from the bench against Oldham in an Oxford win.

Nathan Byrne 25 (FB/W) - Wigan

Arguably the most effective player of that Swindon side with loads of our youth team players. In 2014-2015 he was voted into league 1 team of the season with former spur and teammate Massimo Luongo as well as future Spur Dele Alli. After two good seasons with Swindon he got a big move to Wolves in 2015. 24 appearances later he was moved onto fellow Championship team Wigan at the start of last season. Unfortunately, he didn't cut the mustard there either so was loaned out back to league one with Charlton. As Wigan got relegated last season he was obviously deemed useful at league one level and he subsequently started the game this weekend against MK dons in a seemingly violent 1-0 win.

Michael Kightly 31 (W) - Southend United

A great story from being let go at spurs, ending up in non-league before working his way back into the PL where he became a useful impact sub but not much more. A good cross on him and championship team of the year member for 2008-2009 at Wolves. He now finds himself coming to the end of career signing for Southend at the start of the season. He comes in as the 'star player' ironically at the club that released him after he failed to break into the team as a teenager.

Yaser Kasim 26 (CM) - Northampton Town

After four successful seasons at Swindon he left after the Sherwood's relegation. Now plays for Northampton town, making his debut from bench this weekend. He is a full Iraqi international but an argument with the captain he retired temporarily for 2 years, only coming back to the fold this spring.

League 2

Lawrence Vigouroux 23 (GK) - Swindon Town

Released from Tottenham the Chilean goalkeeper signed for Liverpool. in 2015 he signed for Swindon on Loan. The contract was terminated after Lawrence decided to pay a £50 fine in 1 penny coins, only for it to be reinstated after he made an apology. Since then the deal has become permanent and he is a regular starter for the team, as well as the only former tottenham player left in Swindon after Sherwoodgedon.

Troy Archibald-Henville 28 (CB) - Exeter City

Troy A-H has a very long name. In 2007 I remember him sitting on the bench, at time where a youth player being such a position was such an usual thing that fans sang, his admittedly convenient, name. After leaving Spurs he broke into Exeter Cities main team and did well in League one, and was supporters player of the year in 2011/2012. In 2012 he moved to Swindon and injuries and patchy form have curtailed his career. He has failed to play more than 25 games in one season since leaving Exeter the first time. He returned to the team last season but injuries and the pecking order meant he failed to make more than 10 appearances overall. This weekend he was an unused substitute for Exeter.

Lee Angol 23 (ST) - Mansfield Town

After being released in 2012 Angol was picked up by Wycombe Wanderers where he was loaned out to various non-league teams until finding his feet in 2014/2015 on loan to Boreham Wood catching the attention of Peterborough after scoring 33 goals in 49 games. He started well enough in Peterborough, scoring 11 goals in 33 games but injury curtailed his development and poor start to 2016-2017 and loaned again this time to Lincoln city. He was contributor to success story scoring 6 goals in 13 and he was considered enough of a success for Mansfield town to gamble on him this season. He started their first match.

Kane Vincent-Young 21 (FB) - Colchester Town

Released after tough competition in his age group. Vincent-Young moved to Colchester, initially to their youth team. Since then he has broke into the squad as utility player, covering both right and left back positions. He was on the bench for Colchester the weekend

Shaq Coulthirst, 22 (ST) - Barnet

The highly rated youngster has yet to find his feet in professional football and risks falling off the edge if he is not careful. After constant loans Peterborough signed him. Two disappointing seasons later, though he did okay at Mansfield on loan, he finds himself at Barnet. Coulthirst played most the game, as Barnet fought back from two goals down to get a draw against newly promoted forest green rovers.

Andre Blackman 26 (LB/LW) - Crawley Town

The player we signed from Arsenal who then was quickly released. Blackman has had a really strange career. After failing to make the grade at Portsmouth he moves to Wimbledon, in the conference, claiming he needs to sort his life out. He plays 13 games and then goes to Celtic. After three games Celtic loan him out to Iverness on loan, plays two games anf poor attitude leads to the termination of his loan, and is then released from Celtic. Then he goes to Plymouth, 9 appearances later he is released. Then non-league, a few games for Dover than Maidenhead 2 appearances, released. Somehow gets a move to Blackpool 3 appearances later, guess what, released. He then goes to Morroco plays three games than leaves.

Finally, he signs for Crawly in league 2 last season. He plays 32 games and this season he remains with club for more than one season the first time in his career. Before last season, at 25 Blackman had been to 9 different clubs in 7 years making only 40 appearances. I hope he is now on the right track, I wonder what he does that is awful.

An additional former Academy player in League One:

Dominic Ball 22 (CB/FB/CM) - Rotherham United

Joined Rotherham last summer after a year on loan in Scotland with Rangers. Had a disappointing season (12 app) and in January went on loan to Peterborough (7 app). His loan was cancelled in March after a disagreement with the management. Rotherham were relegated but is still there although he is playing catch-up in an effort to impress. Wasn't in the squad yesterday as Rotherham lost to Fleetwood. (The player listed at No:10 is David M Ball, Dominic has No:14 shirt)

Post above with all the players listed is very interesting. Thanks for taking the time to put it up @COYS

Thanks, there are a lot of Spurs players in the English divisions I have not covered. Some have done very well for themselves, like Grant Hall and Calum Butcher. But had to put some parameters, otherwise it would of taken me all night!

Ruben Lameiras (22) has left Coventry and joined Plymouth. The midfielder left Spurs in 2015 having been with the Academy from 2011. He helped Coventry win the Checkatrade Trophy at Wembley last April.

He played final 18 minutes on Saturday in 2-1 defeat at Peterborough.
