Always thought a drum would go a long way to helping start the chants but it seems to have been banned by the club. I remember when i used to go as a kid back in the 90s there was a drum and it made some chants sound really intimidating, like the 'Yids' chant. Shame there isn't one any more. That and a standing section would do the job for me. That and no more Wembley.

I also think there's a bit of a hypocrisy amongst the fanbase - everyone moans about the lack of atmosphere but I guarantee if we had a section of 'ultras' like at Palace or in Germany blaring out the tunes all day you'd get a load of old grumpy c*nts whinging at them to shut up & sit down.
Let’s get the drum back! Time for us to play our part - it’s embarrassing when we go quiet and does nothing for the squad.

Do a poll on twitter. Twitter is a good place to find the answer to these sorts of questions, ask the real fans of Spurs what they think.

It is amazing when fans grasp at straws. Really? A Drum? Just chant loud and hard enough. We suck as fans, and we pay amazing amounts of money to be one. I was in awe of the pool fans today. They chanted harder and better then a Wembley stadium combined.

Think there's a bit of mythology with WHL. Sure there were a lot of fantastic nights atmosphere wise and comparatively it probably was one of the better stadiums for atmosphere but let's not pretend there wasn't a lot of quiet games. A lot, a hell of a lot of games were just filled with people whinging and constant groans.
Weirdly apart from obvious examples personally I feel like the negative atmosphere actually got worse the better we got.

Maybe it's the old things will fuck up somehow, an attitude embedded in the club that has stopped the club from really achieving something great. It's a pretty ugly attitude that a lot of people seem to have about a lot of things in this country. This summer aside, I blame the weather.

We are totally on the same side here - and I’m in agreement re the problem. And yes, a drum - that way a super fan like you or I will still be making noise when inevitably the fans go quiet. I likewise was in awe of the Liv fans today - and they had flares, flags, drums and (most importantly) belief.

We only sing when we're winning... The best atmosphere is when we're beating some big club like Madrid last year, or Fiorentina back at the lane. It's always been this way. If you want the old school atmospheres then you need to drop down the leagues.

Yesterday I went to see Sconthorpe away to Wimbledon, stood in the terraces, the scunny fans making loads of noise and singing, with funny banter and no one taking it too seriously... Both sets of fans taking the piss out of each other.

Scunny ran out 3-2 winners after a cracking little game.

Ye I agree but I think by having a standing area, like minded people will gravitate to it.
They’d probably charge £2200 for the standing area season ticket. They’ve showed already they can greedily fuck up a good idea in the new South.

Yeah we suck. The pool fans were singing and overpowering us the entire time. And I asked a simple question as to where to go for a pint with some spurs fans and noone answered. Honestly. We suck as fans.
Realy? Thought the scousers only turned up after they scored - thought the atmosphere was poor and wasn't helped by an early kick-off

I’ll be in the Holte End at Villa next week. Really roughing it in the lower leagues.

Another heartbreaking loss at Wembley, another lame chorus of fans telling my son ‘get used to it lad, that’s the heartbreak of being a Spurs supporter.’ How do we expect our players to believe when the silence from our fans was deafening yet again today? We have to do better as supporters of the club - we have to be louder than the opposing team, and have to believe (as we should) that not only do we deserve to be in the Top 4, we actually deserve to win. Every. Single. Game. Let’s bring flags and drums and whatever else we need to create a winning environment. Our players and beloved club have earned it.

the thing is there isn't a "the top 6 teams" that has the stadium rocking unless they are performing on the pitch when they are at home, when away they rock. As @riggi said, to many tourist and prawn sandwich visitors now days

you asked in the team thread, where a good few that post in there either don't go to the games, or would of already posted their teams. if I hadn't been in a rush when I saw your post I would of suggested starting a new thread

So what can we do about it - surely if so many of us feel this way we should change this? Players deserve it ?

what we need is for the team to just up the tempo in their game, when Moura gets the ball you can feel the volume go up, when we are fart arsing around the back when 2-0 down your never going to raise the volume, just the groaning. just having a player like Bale lifts the crowd, unfortunately him becoming a hero in the final of the CL, and Ronaldo and ZZ pissing off cost us any hope

I honestly think its wembley, I went to a good few games last year and the atmosphere was shite. The place is too big to keep chants or songs going. One section starts and by the time it gets around to the far side of the stadium its over. New ground will be a lot better for atmosphere.

Liverpool fans were noisy because they were embarrassing us on our own patch. The Spurs fans were the same up at Old Trafford.

If the team is playing badly the atmosphere will almost always be poor. The only place that isn't the case is when the team is so poor that nobody cares about the game - but if I only wanted to sing I'd just go to a rock concert.

I think there is a fair bit of romanticism about what the atmosphere was like when we were really crap - but all I remember was fans shouting for Sugar to leave....

I agree. The lane certainly got shit in the later stages. I remember noticing more family's (ill get in trouble for saying women) in park lane.
