So we have a thread where we’re moaning about the lack of atmosphere at home games, when a fan comes on with, not just a good idea, but one which has been means tested and has been proven to provide an awesome atmosphere elsewhere...

But it’s “embarrassing?”

Who gives a shit if the atmosphere is rocking?
It’s not like the song sheets would be distributed every single bloody game. They’d be issued for any new songs that came up to allow THE ENTIRE FAN BASE to participate. Singing it constantly for 20 minutes would also put out a wall of noise that would be hugely intimidating.

The whole thing smacks of that typical English arrogance, with a large dose of “fear of doing something differently.”

Personally I think it’s a fantastic idea that, if we could get it going, would have NWHL rocking, particularly with the way the acoustics are set up in the stadium.

The other thing about the song sheets is that it enables those visiting fans, so condescendingly referred to as “Prawn sandwich eaters,” to join in. Rather than try to exclude them, include them. They may just turn into regulars if they do as the participation in creating the atmosphere is what really turns the day from a good one to a great one.

We all started off going to games without knowing all the songs, but soon joined in once we learned them, without embarrassment when everyone else was singing too. Orchestrated singing/chanting with the words readily available would, or should, take that self consciousness out of the experience for the first timers.

We’ve never been afraid of something new at this club, FFS our history is littered with “firsts.”

Why not this?
Let’s do it - you’re right, what the f do we have to lose??

Yeah we suck. The pool fans were singing and overpowering us the entire time. And I asked a simple question as to where to go for a pint with some spurs fans and noone answered. Honestly. We suck as fans.

Not even anywhere near to being true. The ****s barely made a noise until the first goal.

We're pretty shite fans let's be honest - only sing when we're winning, and when we are winning we spend 50% of our time singing arrogant shite like the "You're shit" song, being properly full of ourselves. It's no wonder other fans think we're spoilt ****s when we tend to act like it.

Biggest ****s in London.

I love it.

Stick your drum up your ass. I was at the chav game last season and that was the most embarrassed I’ve been in 37 years of watching spurs.
No loudhailers.
Don’t even mention clackers.
We are spurs. We sing.
Wow, crazy angry response when I’m just a loyal fan trying to suggest something different - oh and there was no singing yesterday, which was a huge part of the atmosphere issue... so where was the singing?? And did it help?!

our away support is one of the best, no matter what the score is

That's mostly in my experience because they're by and large absolutely leathered on booze (and whatever else....). Yes it does make for a good atmosphere on the whole, I wont lie, and especially on TV it sounds great and makes the fanbase look good. However, inevitably, I have also seen plenty of unsavoury stuff on the away trips I've done as well. I don't think you'd want that recreated wholesale.

Bit harsh mate. They met in love island and their relationship has blossomed.

The Stella I can see as a riggi

The Charlie I’d of never of thought of for riggi

But to as good as admitting to watching love island the Charlie becomes more understandable:whistle:

If I wanted orchestrated, coordinated singing Id go to the theatre...at a football match it comes across as fake.
Songsheets?...Christ.

As pointed out the problem is the type of people who (can afford to) go nowadays.
I'd put money on the fact that the average guy hasn't been priced out of going to games in Argentina like they have over here.

This comes across as fake to you, does it?

and this isn't even the Barra Brava.

The 'song sheets' are tiny scraps of paper that fit in the palm of your hand and they get distributed once or twice a year, there aren't new songs that often.

Apart from the Barra who get their tickets from the club, prices have been going up and up here just like inflation and the dollar, although prices are still relatively much cheaper than in the UK. But footy fans will find a way.

And as for tourists at Wembley, surely they want to see the best possible atmosphere as well? And might even join in with the singing if it went on for long enough?

that's @riggi fault leaving two cans of stella and Charlie on the seats of the coach going up:whistle:

It's tough to blame the fans when all we've had for the last 2 months is bad news. No signings (believe it or you don't, the fact is this team needed refreshing and strengthening), fuck knows when the new stadium will be ready, Lloris is off drink driving, no new contracts and murmurs of discontent, playing at MK dons (couldn't give a shit personally but its ruffled enough feathers), players somehow looking absolutely knackered and not one single good performance yet. Couple all that with a couple of losses, especially the Watford game and what do you expect?

We've had a real feel good factor the last few seasons with optimism abundant, but it all feels like the Harry days all over again. What could have been. Maybe I'm a kneejerking, pessimist but I fear for this season. Dier, Dembele, Wanyama and Winks is not strong enough to win anything. Unless we go big in January, which we won't. We'll be battling for 4th place and more than likely miss out. I'd love to be wrong, but just can't see any other scenario unfortunately
