It was a bit earlier than the 90s tbf, more mid to late 80s.
bloke wandering round with a wooden tray round his neck yelling really loudly: PEANUTS!!!!GET YOUR PEANUTS!!!
Good times.
People handing the money forward while he fired peanuts into the crowd?

I mentioned this after the game saturday. Those who stand behind the goals hardly make any noise. Im in the block next to them and all they do is stand up, theres little singing.

I think it would attract the singing types. That section just happens to be standing. I stood there all last season and saw a fair few people who diddnt want to stand.

So you didn’t hear the shelfside/Park lane being sung?
Not a crazy response but trying to suggest we be more like Crystal Palace ultras....

Spurs has a rich history and identity, don’t want to just be any other club trying to pretend we have ultras and use a drum. I’ve been at Leicester away and seen their drummer. PMSL when that didn’t work for them.

Spurs clackers anyone?

Wave a huge flag and pretend we are Dortmund?

Why not go the whole hog and follow everyone else and sing you’ll never walk alone? That’s a footie song...

we used to in the 70's and 80's

Oldish fella, short and fat with a limp. When he walked around in front of the stands all you’d hear was fans singing the Laurel and Hardy tune.

Fuck this thread. Supporter belief follows a tangible and final change/improvement from the club, not the other way around. They (players, directors, leagues, marketing deals) exist ONLY because of each and every one of us. They serve us. Supporters are not servants of the club. They change, we change. They keep an underperforming mentality, and they'll get the response that goes with that.

So I’ll put you down as a ‘maybe’ on the drum idea.

The club got the fan group it deserves. We've been shaped for 3-4 decades by it.
Does that mean you’re happy to accept that? Why not change it and help win the trophies I believe the squad and manager deserve to bring home?

And so the vicious cycle continues ...
I respectfully disagree - and I for one am more than happy to do my part in changing that pattern. Tell me, if you had 60,000 people watching you at work telling you you’re sh*t, would you be performing at your best?!

The problem isn’t standing. It’s all standing where I am at Wembley and there’s still a load of ****s. The problem is fans are spoilt. If we’re not scoring goals we’re shit. Sing when we’re winning. And only if the opposition are what we deem to be worthy. Let’s just face it. This country doesn’t have the mentality to create good atmospheres anymore. There’s no hardship and desire or triumph. The closest one club came to it were Palace by acting all Italian and they fucked that up. Ticket prices have forced out the hunger. We’ve paid a shitload, make us happy or else we’ll sulk. Thank fuck for Lucas Moura today having a go at geeing up the crowd. Best 10 seconds of atmosphere all day.

Could not have said it better myself. Great post.

If there's going to be a drum and song sheets does that mean we get a party hat and a goodie bag with a slice of cake when we leave?
