Our strong squad

During the Liverpool game on Sunday I started thinking about the players we were missing due to injury, and the players who were sat on the bench.

With a quick glance at the official Tottenham squad list, I came up with this team:

Cudicini
Corluka, Dawson, Gallas, Bassong
Lennon, Huddlestone, Sandro, Pienaar
Pavlyuchenko, Van der Vaart

None of these players made the starting line-up when we thrashed Liverpool on Sunday.

What this means is that we essentially have two teams of 11 - and both teams are very good.

The team listed above is essentially our "second 11" (give or take a few). It is also worth noting that the team above is better most premier leagues starting 11.

I have not been this satisfied and optimistic about our overall squad for a long, long time.

Thoughts?

It's a good squad. But luck plays a huge part. We probably have more depth than Arsenal or Liverpool, but who knows where the injuries will come. An injury to Suarez, Adebayor or Van Persie could decide who gets 4th.

We have it within ourselves to get 4th. Presmuing a Man U/Man C/Cheatski top 3....

It would put Liverpool back a fair bit.

It would crush Arsenal.

No gio in that team or livermore or gomes who r also gd player

Exactly: Livermore, Gio, Gomes - and Rose as someone else said. Not to mention the other youngsters who played in Europe last week.

We have real strength in depth this season - and a really balanced squad!

Indeed. and as widely known Levy will go for Damiao in January, making GDS surplus to requirements, and making him available to other clubs, which could/will happen.

Seriously. This place is nuts. One good result and all of a sudden we have the best squad in the league and can win every cup available.

Talk about setting yourself up for a fall.

One glaring weakness in that '2nd 11' - stupor Pav. That's making us over-reliant on Adebayor (already).

Erm two good results, actually three if you count the 0-0 in Greece. We're heading in the right direction again and have one of the strongest squads (on paper) in the league so why all the negativity?

We are strong in depth in certain areas, however we have an injury proneness in Cb and Cf if king gets injured and Gallas is not fit or Ade is injured we will struggle. If we sign Cahill and another good striker we will be very strong

We set ourselves up for a fall all the time 'JUSTINSIGNAL'....we're fans!
(Come to think of it your comment might be a good definition of a fan: "One who constantly sets him/herself up for a fall, through a constant inablilty to accurately assess his/her team.").
