He's a Russian oligarch. Those guys aren't famous for being great friends. Blowing up their friends maybe. I think if he's looking to buy a club he'll try and buy the one that he sees as the best investment.

Except those ones are famous for being great friends? o_O

Everton does seem to be the best bet investment wise. They will be starting on their new stadium soon which will increase their value. Footballing wise us, chelsea but we would cost far more.

Tbh if you’ve got the money and you want to buy a top football club. There’s really no better candidate than us. Fantastic infrastructure in place and to take us to the next level isn’t gonna cost £500m could easily be done on a net spend of £150m or probably less. Was actually thinking if we got taken over by city type money I’d buy LB DM CM ST/winger. The thing about us is we are on the verge, but there’s probably still enough upside to make it worth it.

We would cost about £1.5bn. Newcastle would cost about £300m.

Please. He's just mad enough to spend some serious money..

Truthfully, eventhough most of the very wealthy have inflicted some kind of distress on the way to the top, I wouldn't want someone who's gained wealth through massive amounts of human suffering. Football is just a game. Don't know his history though.
Saying that I'm sure lewis financially ruined many people on black Wednesday, and probably since then. Again don't know the history.

I think we have to be thankful for what ENIC have done In delivering a new training ground, stadium and consistent top six finishes apart from 2 seasons for around 14 years which was most certainly an upgrade on the shit sugar years.
But I would not be adverse to the idea of new ownership if they could take us forward as a club and become title winners or even CL winners eventually as i think there is only so far we can go under the current ownership with the way they operate it always seems the brake is on and the manager is just held back enough that it leaves us short.
But if not then I guess we stay focussed and committed behind ENIC and hope we get lucky one season keeping the fan's and club happy which might justify the big price hike on tickets.

If Usmanov is in the market for a new football team he's missed a trick with Leeds, Little investment would reap rewards with that club and it's following

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Can you seriously imagine how long Levy would take to negotiate the sale of the football club?

I thought that Usmanov was a gooner fan and hence why he wanted to take full control of them previously?
If that's the case, I can't see him being interested in their biggest rivals. I could be wrong.

Who's to say they haven't been negotiation for sometime already?

From what I've read it seems he wants to be sole control of a club, so becoming a joint owner as he would be at Everton wouldn't be his preferred option.

Seeing the way we've failed to back the manager in this window says to me it's time for a change. ENIC have done great in most aspect, but when comes to helping the manager improve the squad they've continually failed to do so in a significant way.

It's quite possible. Certainly it wouldn't make sense on any level to be public about it.

They have up until today "helped" the manager by providing modest to reasonable funds whoever that manager maybe.
What they haven't done is tried pushing the boat out a little to take a risk or brave to cite the fashionable word doing the rounds and try to take the club forward to perhaps challenge slightly better.
No we can point to the stadium as a long term vision or strategy to propel the club further forwards but if say that takes 5-10 years to see the effect of this what happens short term, do clubs like Everton and or West ham catch up or go past us it's a risky strategy imo.
So far I'm dissapointed but not surprised about the window as it looks as if little effort has been done to back our wonderful manager although I hope to be proved wrong within the next 12 hours but the signs do not look good.
That leaves us with probably the best stadium in the country paying again probably the highest prices for cheese rooms and Wi-Fi along with a bar that goes the full length of the ground, only for the natives to sit there hopefully not watching a team standing still or worse going backwards as that maybe a difficult sell for levy and the board to try and convince fans that they remain ambitious, levy is a clever man and I would be seriously surprised if he leaves poch short of the tools he needs.

Villa, Leeds, Forest, Sheff Wed, Coventry, Sunderland, there are a few teams below the PL that potential owners should be looking at.

I’m no fan of ENIC but I fear the worst part of their ownership will happen when they sell. They want £2bn per an article in the Telegraph. The only people paying that kind of money are people looking for a return on investment and the only way they could do that would be with Glazer style financing. Leveraging up the club and taking out huge amounts of our operating revenue to service the debt.

Don't think they are allowed to do that anymore?
