Scott Parker says he expects Ryan Sessegnon to stay at Fulham.

Tottenham are looking to agree a deal to sign the teenager, who has a year remaining on his contract at Craven Cottage.

Standard company speak being used, absolutely what you'd expect a manager to say.....just before the player is sold.

Nothing to worry about.

If he stays it will cost them millions in a few months time.

Exactly, and although the delays can be put down to possible Levy haggling (and the international call up/injury) i wouldn't be surprised if some of the delay was Fulham just trying to give Parker time to assess his squad needs. On that subject, i'm sure i saw Alfie Mawson got taken off injured for them yesterday, so perhaps their need for a CCV loan move or quick finances for a new CB have just become more urgent ? Which gives us even more leverage.

Really not opposed to picking him up next summer once his contact is finished. Another season in the Championship at 19 years old is no bad thing.

Agree not too fussed.

But yeah I'm sure avb said he expects Gareth bale to stay a couple of days before he was sold

By all accounts he was good in The Championship but I was alarmed by how little he showed last season. I know Fulham were a shit show and he was shunted between positions in different systems, but to go almost an entire season with barely a single noteworthy contribution was very underwhelming. Even if we signed him now I'd like to see him spend another year with Fulham on loan. We need starting full backs on both side as a matter of urgency (if Rose goes).

With the greatest respect Freddie, exactly how much of Fulham and Sess did you watch last season ? I'm guessing you only caught the highlights on MoTD ? If so, then you really can't judge and if you did see plenty of 90 mins of Sess, then you should have seen enough to know he's absolutely ready to play in the prem for a team that functions correctly (Fulham, and their midfield in particular, were a basket case last season).

Very very few people will agree with me at this moment in time, but i'm happy to keep repeating it as the proof will be in the pudding - Sessegnon is a better, more talented footballer than Rose and will be an upgrade on Danny.

I watch 5 games per weekend so a rough estimate would be that I saw half of Fulham's games. To assume merely makes an ass of you and me. I saw someone who was understandably low on confidence and constantly unsure of what to do in attack and defence. I have no doubt there's a great player there based on his reputation but I don't think he showed it last season.

I guessed, i didn't assume. That would have been rude.

But i'm still a little confused about how you actually view him as a player given that you say you have 'no doubt there's a great player there based on reputation'. If that's the case surely it would make sense (if he actually does sign) to get him into a very good team of very good players and let that great player come out, rather than send him back to a misfiring side in a lower league ?

Perhaps you didn't assume but it's patronising to say that if I watched him then I should have come to one conclusion i.e. the same one as you.
When the consensus on someone (based on a season where I didn't see much of him) is that someone has a massive future, I'm happy to accept it. But from what I saw he isn't ready for us and he'll only get there by playing regularly. We can't offer him that (I don't want either him or Davies starting regularly hence why I think we needs someone else). Parker seems semi-competent, so I don't think it would be a terrible idea to keep him in familiar surroundings in a league where he's done well, or perhaps to a mid-table prem club.

i apologise, i had tried to word my initial reply so that it wasn't patronising even though, yes, i do find it surprising you were pretty negative about him as i also saw a lot of their games and i thought he was still doing the right things off the ball, especially while attacking but was just either a) not found by incompetent midfield or b) left high and dry by incompetent midfield. Which might explain why you later stated he seemed 'unsure of what to do in attack and defence' - i was putting that down to him knowing their midfield was appalling and being caught between two stools.

Anyway, whatever happens, it will be interesting to see how he develops as i stand by my thinking that he'd be a better alternative to Rose right now, and in a year or two, an outstanding talent.
