If Lopez were to play tomorrow, who would be the substitute goalie?
Glenn Hoddle. That is right, isn't it? Always looked reliable between the sticks in an emergency and believe he's arranged with Poch he'd to be the emergency 4th keeper in a crisis.

Well, I guess tomorrow we will finally find out if the loan is worth turning into a transfer if he plays.

Called up for Spain U21 to the European Championship that start mid june.
Didn't get much game time with us this season, wonder whether we'll sign him permanently or not.
If he's willing I think we'll do due to the reasonable fee already agreed.

Poch has already inferred that the deal is done.

I vaguely remember him saying Pau was 'one for the future.' I'd assume that means we want him/have him permanently.

Pau Lopez to Tottenham Hotspur seems to continually creep forward, with the occasionaly big jump backwards. Each time it gets to the stage where all that seems missing is an announcement, then sure enough a setback comes and the creeping forward starts once again.

Mauricio Pochettino and Toni Jimenez brought the young goalkeeper from their previous club Espanyol. The original deal was a one season loan, with Tottenham then being able to buy the player for €7m.

There’s a €500k fee payable should Spurs not sign Pau permanently. Last week we covered claims from Spain that Tottenham’s latest offer is just €2m, and whilst that was much less than expected, there’s still been confidence a deal will be agreed soon.

Around the same time, Sport reported that everything is expected to be sorted before the end of May, which gives Daniel Levy a week to sort out what were called the ‘final details’ with Espanyol.

Today’s edition of Sport says the transfer is still ‘being negotiated’, which is better than everyone storming away from talks.

In other Espanyol news, the deal to sign Diego Lopez permanently is one the verge of being done. Again.

Anyone seen this?

Tottenham offer €2m to buy on-loan goalkeeper Pau López from Espanyol
• Spain under-21 goalkeeper was on loan at Spurs last season
• Offer includes up to €2m in future bonuses and a cut of any future

Tottenham Hotspur have moved to turn Pau López’s season-long loan into a permanent deal and have offered Espanyol €2m (£1.74m) plus a further €2m in add-ons. The proposal includes a clause that would guarantee the Spanish club a cut of any future sale and Tottenham are confident it will be accepted.

Has truly been outstanding this season too, will push Lloris and if Hugo is off he would come in and be brilliant, Lloris, Pau & Gazzaniga is pretty good

I don’t really understand - A) Why he’d be so cheap, and, B) Why he’d want to come here as a number two, given he’s playing regularly and so well in Spain.

I disagree. We're using 3 of our 17 non homegrown squad places on goalkeepeers.
Yeah a bit excessive, Gazzaniga done well and Poch obviously chose him but he's not good enough imo to be our second choice, but then again he was chosen for a reason

He'd be a free agent, I don't know if he'd come here to be second choice but he would truly push Lloris, and if he's close with Poch and Toni then that might be enough

I agree. If we could shift Gaz and Vorm, and bring in Pau it would be positive for the whole squad. However having 3 of the squad taken up by foreign GK is madness
