Maybe all this helps Espanyol in their negotiations with the club they are trying to buy their new keeper from, you never know.

Haggle haggle haggle.

To tell the truth though i'm not too bothered as long as Vorm is still our no2 and we have a competent no.3 whether that is Lopez or not.

Today Pau Lopez gets married, and it could also be the day Tottenham and Espanyol finally agree on his transfer.

The 22 year became an Espanyol player again on Saturday after his loan period with Tottenham ran out, and so did the Premier League club’s €7m option to buy him. Tottenham hadn’t wanted to pay so much and their final offer didn’t go above €2m plus a percentage of a future sale.

Espanyol stood form and, subsequently, Tottenham were forced to pay the Spanish club a €500k penalty, agreed at the outset if Spurs didn’t take up the clause.

Tottenham and Espanyol have now reopened talks, report Sport, and a deal is ‘very close’. So close that it could even be announced soon, say the Catalan newspaper.

A deal will be done at €2.5m, and Sport seem to believe the €500k is included in that. Crucially, there’ll be bonuses on top of that amount, rather than the amount being reliant on bonuses.

This could all have a positive concludison very son, a nice little wedding present for Mr and Mrs Lopez.

If we are 100% about Lopez this deal would have been done some time ago. £3m is peanuts in todays market, so something is not quite right here.

£2m for Lopez would be an absolute steal.hes more than competent to be our number 2 and only 22.would be a great bit of business.

Well apparently until now they wanted much more.

Not necessarily true at all. Just because you want something and know it will work does not mean you pay more for it when you can get it for less (assuming all other economic factors are the same). And not just more, almost 200% more. That would be just bad business and DL doesn't do bad business...unless it's named Sissoko.

Espanyol were stupid to send a player out on a year loan with only 2 years left on his contract. DL probably had this planned all along. Was that negotiating the loan in good faith? Probably not but you could put a price on the MBA-level education DL provided the Espanyol board and it probably makes up for their loses on Pau.

The original deal was something along the lines of £6m was it not? Delay probably whilst it was being haggled down to roughly half that.

Actually 1/3 as DL has offered 2M. The extra 500K was a penalty for not concluding a purchase deal before June 30.

This Pau saga sounds to me like both Levy and Espanyol trying to work the other side of the deal and walking out of this believing they won.

Shit, after thinking about it some more I jsut realized that Espanyol did indeed claw back some dignity with the 500K penalty. We were only offering 2M even though we agreed 6M last year. So they knew he was only coming here and they are not financially prepared to lose him for nothing irrespective of the new ownership. So they held firm on the 6M until DL was forced to pay 500K more. So yeah, everyone walks out with their head high.

It may be peanuts but if you can get him for £3 million instead of £6 million you have an extra £3 million to spend elsewhere and when things are as tight as they appear to be right now then we 100% should push them down as hard a possible.

Where did the £6m come from.. I was to believe that it was always £3m

Just posted in McGee loan thread that Peterborough have Jonathan Bond on loan from Reading wearing the number 1 shirt McGee wore last season.

Might mean McGee isn't going back there and wonder if has a future at Spurs?

Interesting to see who will be third choice goal keeper next season; I wouldn't have thought Vorm would be sold but who knows, maybe otherwise Lpoz is seen as second choice and McGee third?

Who knows??? :nailbiting:

Reckon Peterborough have moved on, they didn't want to wait until August to see what happen with McGee.
While we made demand that McGee is to go on a pre season tour with us to the US and be assesed before we make a loan decision.
