Paulinho: 'Mauricio Pochettino played me out of position'

I think it is evident that for whatever reason, Pochettino failed to get the best out of Paulinho. It's OK to say that, although why it matters now I don't know. Pochettino isn't a god who get's the best out of everyone. He succeeds with some and not with others, that's just natural. But ironically, Paulinho now is exactly what a "Pochettino-player" is supposed to be.
He was here at a time of turmoil and by the time Poch came he was at his lowest ebb, I guess. No one's fault, but I think he feels the need to defend himself.

Good article, The Guardian, about Paulinho giving some insight into the player and his struggles.

Should be a arming tonus to be careful with Dele and not write him off for lapses in form or confidence. He does what Paulinho does only better with his abiliyto drift into space and score goals

Far better mentality as well

I remember Paulinho under Sherwood. He literally started to show his ability and then got taken out by Adams I think. After that he just lost it again

He's 30 in July, and I'm supposed to impressed by this? >>>

I'm guessing you don't know the back story to the abuse he had had in Eastern Europe and how he surmounted that, otherwise there's no excuse for your moronic comment.

Stats can be dangerous comparisons.

Years Team Apps (Gls)

Year Team Apps Gls

2009–2011 River Plate 36 4
2011–2013 Roma 62 19
2013– Tottenham 85 8

Sorry, I wasn't highlighting the goals scored - that's not his job, as it's not really Lamela's - but rather the clubs he's played for, and the oddly meandering path his career has taken.

You need to calm the fuck down. If you want to defend Paulinho, by all means do that, but calling me names out of nowhere is just weird & uncalled for. Kindly stop.

Do I care about Paulinho. No. Plenty of players haven’t converted promise into the premier league. You have to get off to a good start or you are toast. And he didn’t. So good luck at Barca. You look good amongst the superstars. But you aren’t a
Superstar. You are a cog in a wheel. And you look good as a cog. That is all.

And what names did you call him? And so what if he has a meandering career, because what it certainly doesn't point to is bottling? While I'm "calming the fuck down", why don't you grow a thicker skin?

Out of position? You mean Pochettino instructed him to position himself so the referee was between himself and the ball all those times.

Didn’t have the right mentality to play for us or in the premier league I think.

Obviously a good player, but not one you want in the side when the going gets tough. As such it’s no surprise he’s doing well for Barcelona, with some of the worlds best players in a team that almost never loses and usually has the ball 70% of the time.

Still wouldn’t want him back, but happy to see him doing well.

@UbeAstard there's a whole group of you I like to annoy. You've had it in for Lamela and/or Pochettino, and at the slightest opportunity you stick in the knives. I exist to stamp on your tiny little brains.

Thats rubbish! I have called Lamela flattery man justifiably at times (Ive also said when he is back Sissoko wont be ahead of him in this squad) but please recall a single post where I have had it in for either of them? You wont annoy me at all and I dont see why you would need to if you're mature enough to understand everyone is entitled to an opinion.

BTW what would you like to be when you grow up?

Yeah, I keep hearing that about everyone having an opinion, but don't expect it not to be challenged. I can't stand your opinion, which is my firmly held opinion.
