Remember Paulinho's goal against Cardiff.

Absolute scenes.

Best moment in my life, I genuinely thought we were going to go unbeaten for the rest of the season at that point.

Regardless of the probably fake links to Barcelona, Paulinho is a great example of the fact that Pochettino, good as he is, doesn't have a success recipe for every single player out there. Pochettino would likely kill for a player exactly like what Paulinho is today. He is a way slimmer, much fitter and an incredible tank for a player these days. It's as if he is a different person.

His game back from suspension at home to stoke where Charlie Adam attempted to break his legs was the best game he played for us, he was great in that game.

He was amazing that day, flicks, tricks, then that tackle... That showed what a bottle job he is though because after that he didnt do a thing and looked too scared in case he broke a nail

You are talking a load of bull. He challenges and wins the ball at least a couple of times in each game he play for us.

Is this assessment based on his performances in the MIGHTY Chinese super league?..

Sarcasm on this specific subject only shows that you don't know what you are talking about. Ie. "slimmer" and "fitter" aren't really league depending improvements, are they? They are absolute, or if relative only to himself, not to geography.

In much the same way as being "slimmer" and / or "fitter" don't necessarily make you any better of a player? He was awful for us.

I don't understand how anyone can attempt to justify Paulinho's performances for us, he was poor so no need to try and sugarcoat it.

Okay, I'll try to defend Erik a little.

First things first, Paulinho was a huge disappointment for us relative to his apparent quality, hype and fee coming in. There can be no denying that, or the following ...

-He struggled with the pace and physicality of the league

- he never made good on the claims from many people, that he would offer goals from midfield.

I will say this though....

- for his first time in England, it did not help that he was brought in to a very unsettled squad with a whole host of new signings

- There were clearly problems with AVB going on in the background, and despite us racking up reasonable points, the football we were playing overall was absolutely turgid and terrible.

- he then had to deal with Sherwood as his manager, a team in absolute flux, tactics all over the place etc etc

How many people really distinguished themselves during this era ?

- he had a couple of ignominious moments that Spurs fans remember and use to categorise his whole Spurs career, when in reality he played a fair few games were he was 'alright'.

E.g. I'd say he was more underwhelming, disappointing, ineffectual at times rather than absolutely pathetic and a complete joke.

I can barely remember his involvement under Poch, but reckon the ghost was already up by that point anyway mentally.

There plenty of other ex Spurs players that were just as bad as him during this period, but who won't receive the same level of derision. At least part of that was the expectation coming in

He was better than Lamela was. Obviously Lamela has massively improved but what's to suggest Paulinho wouldn't have too?

He was fucking garbage for us and an absolute uber fraud and coward. In a Spurs shirt he was borderline scum and deserved no respect from anyone that says that they are Spurs themselves.

Sure, for his sake I hope he transfers to Barca and goes on to have a great career. But as far as we are concerned, the guy was an utter ****.
