Apparently Bartomeu's construction company is competing for a contract on one of those artificial islands off China which just happens to be owned by the same Evergrande group who own Guangzhou Evergrande. Some talk that the 'fee' for Paulinho is more like an attempt to grease the wheels and get Bartomeu's company the contract.

It might just be social media scuttlebut but it would go a long way to explain a transfer as baffling as this one.

Whatever the reasons for the signing I can't see him being near the first team, however fun it may be to see.
