If Kane goes it will lead to the complete collapse of this team and eventually Poch leaving, he is worth more than £250M, he is priceless and Levy knows it, he is the glue, along with Poch, both of them can never be sold if we wish to have continued success, with our current squad.

If either do get sold it will be another rebuilding project that could take years.
I agree BUT... We were slowly but surely moving forward with Berbatov. When he went I was distraught and expected us to fall backwards but we didnt. Then it was Modric. Then Redknapp. Then VdV. Then Bale. Then Kyle Walker, just joking lol.
But you see where I'm going.
Now obviously I'd put Kane in a different bracket to all of them and there are 3 big differences between him and the rest.
1, he's a Spurs fan born and raised in London with his family there.
2, The club are moving into a new 61,000 seat stadium and need to put bums on seats.
3, We have a very good squad and Manager who if they see Kane leave could all walk into most teams.
Levy and Poch are not idiots. They know the vultures are already circling.
I find the idea that they haven't already all sat down and discussed what's on the horizon, what their aims are and how far they are willing to go to build this club around Kane untinkable.
I think Kane will be a Gerrard, Shearer, LeTissier and bring HIS club into a new era and become...LEGEND.

ooh gave myself a stonk on with that last bit

Nothing wrong with what he said.

Anyway in the summer before stadium move , would be good to get a new round of bigger salary contracts done to match the stadium... including that 10 year Poch contract!

When I was in Madrid last week, the TV and newspapers were speculating on Kane joining Real Madrid with Benzema coming to us. I'm not sure about these swap deals but £100m plus Benzema AND Bale would be tempting. RM would have to supplement their wages.

I hope that Kane stays but that is probably dependent on our ambition. If we finish in the top four, retain our top players and sign some young players of the calibre of Barkley, Sessegnon, Lemar, and Sancho then it is more likely that Harry will want to stay.

We'll just have get used to all the speculation around Kane.

Not tempting at all for me.
I have never overly rated Benzema and Bale is injury prone and plays in a style that will see injuries take their toll. Not to say I wouldn't risk buying Bale back, of course I would! But not at the expense of Kane.

Top strikers are literally irreplaceable and with the market valuations exploding, even more so.

I agree, it would be ridiculous to not have this discussion, I am willing to bet they already have which is why I do not believe Kane will be going anywhere for at least the next 4 years.

What happens in the future is a different matter but he has already said he wants to be a one club man and I believe him personally, I feel with Kane as long as we are moving in the right direction and winning trophies he will be happy, I don't think money has ever been the issue for Kane.

However, my concern is, if Levy gets offered 250m will he turn it down?

The only players in world football I would swap for Kane is Messi or Ronaldo and quite frankly, I wouldn't even do that because both of them are coming to the end of their careers, Kane has years ahead of him yet.

We had Bale before, he wasn't exactly a leader, he carried us that season but I don't think he would be enough to lead us to winning a title, plus he is injury prone, Benzema is just overrated imo.

Also, neither of these players would love Tottenham the way Kane does and I feel like that is a huge factor here, Kane can be our captain, our spearhead, he loves spurs, he wants to break all the records, I also feel like he wants to stay in the PL and conquer all the records here, I can't see him moving abroad under any circumstances unless it is forced upon him to do so, which again, I can't see happening.

Kane will probably leave later in his career but I just don't think the press or the people who keep talking about this shit have really truly thought about it, it doesn't make sense for him to leave for a number of reasons.

The Sun has been running a campaign for weeks now about Kane going to Real Madrid for certain next summer, it has built up to the point where someone asked Perez if he'd been speaking to us about the deal and his answer was "no and Tottenham would want a world record fee anyway"
The fact that the media spins it another way completely should not mean people shuld get their knickers in a twist.

Neil Ashton has a weekly segment here in the US on NBC Sports Network in which he goes over the front/back pages of the print rags. One of the things he showed this week was on of his own stories with the lame pun headline of "HARRY SPAIN." He basically said that his info indicates that Kane is off to Madrid in the summer. I'd love nothing more than for Kane to stay (and I think he will...for a long time), even if for no other reason than to stuff that story back in the face of that smug fuck.

These rumours are going to be happening forever so I really don't see the need to react to everything. Kane is a entering the elite bracket of player, of course elite teams are going to be interested in him. Not much we can do other than enjoy the fact he is our player.

I'm only worried when we lose out on CL. As long as we continue progressing and challenging for the league I think we are ok

To be fair he's the papers equivalent of a shock jock and even he can't make up anything to say about Poch or our team to wind us up and get clicks so all he has left is "Harry is off" stuff, bit sad really, I expect he wanted to be a journalist once upon a time.

I think we need to be realistic with Kane. If he carries on like he is, he will be the hottest property in football come the Summer and every top team in the world will want him. There will no doubt be non stop stories and rumours of him leaving because of this. This doesn't mean though that he will leave, and IMO it will all come down to Kane himself, but if they are already believing he will cost £223mil then they had better be prepared to pay a whole lot more even than that.. If Kane wants to stay then I have no doubt we will do everything we can to make that happen.

He already is the hottest property in football.

Fair enough, but we're talking about a fee that could be an extra £100m above and beyond that Mbappe

Plus wages

That is a lot of wedge

This is from the BBC just over four years ago about the Bale move:

The Wales star has agreed a £300,000 per week, six-year deal after sealing an £85.3m (100m euros) move which eclipses the £80m Real paid Manchester United for Cristiano Ronaldo in 2009.

Madrid at that time paid Bale 300 grand a week! He has since signed another contract and at the time of signing exceeded the cost of Ronaldo.

Both Ronaldo and Benzema are close to the end of their careers (at least at Madrid) and this will free up a gazillion pounds in salary. I don't think i can recall any player in living memory who has turned Madrid down, and i think even if we won the PL it wouldn't stop any Spurs player from signing for that club. Whatever the cost Madrid have the finance, and is Kane ever does go i hope it is to them and not a PL club.

I don't doubt that somehow the Club could afford to pay Harry whatever he want's but the issue is not with what Levy is prepared to pay him, but the knock on effect with every other player at the club or any potential new signing.

I would hate to see Harry go (or any current starter) but in truth i would worry more about the possibility of losing Poch because of a Kane transfer than losing Kane.

It seems to have happened a few times at least:

http://whatculture.com/sport/10-players-who-rejected-real-madrid

Their list includes Totti, Buffon, Viera, Gerrard, Suso, Rakitic, and a couple of more dubious ones such as Messi from Barca, a 14 year old Neymar, and an out-of-contract Roy Keane. Some player quotes in there so it's unlikely to be entirely fabricated.

PSG couldn’t have inflated the market at a better time for us, I doubt anyone will bid £250 million quid even Madrid would find that a stretch.
