A Friday afternoon topic for you.

do you have any personal memorabilia - what's the story behind it?

My personal piece is a signed Ossie Ardilles "official Singapore supports club" shirt.

Back in early 2010 I was doing the standard around the world finished Uni thing when we landed in Singapore. After months of travelling with one other person you find your evenings revolve around free beer and the Prem as there isn't much left to talk about. Especially when you're saving cash. We stumbled onto a Spurs bar and wandered in. As it was dead at 1pm on a week day we learned if you are a spurs fan you get half price drinks - amazingly you had to prove you were a spurs fan. Due to communication difficulties he pointed at pictures on the wall and naming the players. Haggard signed prints of Ande ton, Mabbatt and Jose Dominigues (spelling) alongside Mido - quite a collection.

After proving my worth the bar man gave us "tickets" to come back the following eve to see the FA cup game - he was amazed to finally meet fans who had been to WHL. This dude was loving it. He also kept talking about Ossie...due to the breach in communication I simply assumed he was talking about his favourite all time player.

We bounced back the following eve to watch the game and the bar was packed. I remember each side of the bar signing shelf side v park line which is greatly assuming no-one had ever been. But trust me these were fans - they hated Man Utd and Chelsea as "that's what most Asian fans pick without knowing the history of football"l. What a place.

After the final whistle (lost to Portsmouth), everyone stayed......and eventually Ossie walked through the door. he had been doing some TV presenting in Kuala Lumpa and stopped into the "official supporters club" for a bit of Q&A. What a guy! Ossie answered the questions like a pro and strung out the questions with dramatic effect. Remember him saying how he shouted at Ricky to pass before 'that' goal. After his QA I scrambled to buy a spurs related top and have a pic of him signing it in front of me.

the shirt, and the printed photo of him signing it, are framed on my bedroom wall. I'll take a pic tonight.

When i was 13 my best friends dad was Gary Mabbutt's accountant.

I had just given a speech at my barmitzwah party and as people started to clap 'Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur" started playing through the sound system. From nowhere Gary Mabbutt appeared with a signed football. He took photos with my and all my mates and even stayed with his wife for food and Israeli dancing. He was a true gent and was the same every time i met him.

As a side note a few years later after he had finished playing pro football he used to come and play indoor 5 a side with my friends dads office.

Whenever he we could come down me and my friend would spend the whole game just trying to nutmeg him.... its such a fond memory i had to share.

I got the enamel Spurs pin that Bill Nicholson gave to his fiancée Darkie in 1937 in lieu of an engagement ring (he was too poor to afford one). I picked it up for only 40 quid from a fellow on the east end - nice bloke, by the way - wearing six rings and a camel coat. As he only had two left, I wasn't going to pass that deal up!

have a look!

In the early 60's I was on holiday at Pontins Holiday camp Bracklesham Bay. A football match was arranged between the campers and Staff. John white was there to coach the campers.
I now have a book called Spurs Supreme, with the great John White's autograph, shortly before he was killed.

Don't go in for memorabilia or autographs much myself, but love hearing tales, great idea for a thread.

I did get a football signed by Pat Jennings, with a photo of him and my dad grinning like a goon when I took him on a media pass to a Spurs game. (I gave my dad the ball, though.)

In the 90s I sent a letter to Gerry Francis telling who to sign and who to ell etc. Bless him, he sent me a lovely signed reply (*) and promptly ignored all my advice.

* I know it was probably signed by his secretary. Ok.

Not Spurs related but here goes. Used to live in Blackburn. Next door neighbour had a signed shirt from the whole Prem Blackburn squad framed, pride and joy in his office. He had sent a shirt to the club and they had sent it back with all the signatures on. Was talking to him one day when my ex walked in. She used to work for Rovers. We started talking about the Blackburn team and the conversation turned to his signed shirt (his pride and joy) at which point me ex piped up "old Jimmy in the office used to do all the signatures!" and then she walked out. ROFL.

Met Ginola before the Danny Rose Arsenal game. Got a picture. My brother used to work with a girl that had something to do with a charity related to Spurs. She gave him a year book signed by most of the squad including Bale. He gave it to me. Hope it wasn't old Jimmy in a new role!

I won a knocked off 60-61 shirt, with a bunch of snide signatures done by A&C, on here a few years ago. Very happy with that.

A lad at my primary school lost his dad to an illness (can't remember what). The club sent some items to be used in the raffle to make money for his family.

My mum helped prepare the raffle items, so I was lucky enough to try on a pair of Gazza's boots! Can't remember what game they were from, but I was over the moon!

When my Uncle passed away, we uncovered wardrobes full of brand new, never read or never used Spurs items. Some of them in duplicate or triplicate. Who knows why...

We had annuals, matchday programmes going back to the 50s. All the cup finals, all the league games, all the obscure European games (inc one from my birthday vs Drogheda!). We had hats, scarves, rosettes, videos in their wrapping, professional match photos (he had a friend at the Mirror at one time). In total we had 4 big boxes of stuff. Overwhelming.

I took one copy of the games I wanted - finals, games I went to, the one on my birthday and others - and contacted the club to see if they wanted them. Someone from their publications team came out to the house and was blown away, he said he had searched online for copies of these and had been paying small fortunes for editions in much worse conditions. Didn't charge them for it, but he told me there would be a museum in the new stadium so all I asked for was a plaque saying where it came from. And that's that. Hopefully they will honour that when the time comes.

I didn't want the collection split up and as my Uncle was so fanatical about collecting these things, it should go to a place where thousands of fans can enjoy it over the years to come (y)

As a 10/11 year old we use to go down to the ground on a Friday lunchtime when the Players were there collecting their wages (seems incredible now) to collect autographs. My autograph book is my pride and joy and the only bit I haven't passed on to my Son (yet).

The other thing I have, when retro shirts became available I bought 2,one a friend who knows him got Jimmy Greaves to sign for me, the other I managed to get signed last year by Gilly on a legends Stadium Tour.

When on holiday in Turkey, a shop on the outskirts of marmaris (rural) had loads of les ferdinand shirts on the wall, some signed including spurs shirts. He was only in his second season with us. Obviously he played in Turkey and was much loved. So these guys were de facto spurs fans at least.

They offered to make me a spurs crest out of some metal or other once they found out I was spurs. Bargain for 17 quid. Bout the same size as a cd case. Still have it in the loft somewhere! Along with several framed spurs shirts all with names on the back. When I was younger I insisted on having names on. Got king, Keane, Modric, vdv, Klinsmann, berbatov, Carrick, Davids, Carr, hoddle, Nicholson........ And sherwood, perry, rebrov, jenas and acimovic :/

My grandad's rattle, was at the '61 cup final. Every time i look at it i laugh; it's basically a serious weapon even when you're just using it as intended - you couldn't take this into a ground today. You probably wouldn't be allowed on a bus with it.

1981 Cup Final programme that I gave to Steve Perryman to get signed . He took it on tour with them and returned it signed by all the squad a few weeks later.
Unfortunately one of them spilt tea over it so it was returned to me not in perfect condition, but I've kept it all these years.

My prized shirt. Ex mrs' best friend married hull city player Ryan France. Used to go boozing in Sheffield quite a lot with them all and rub shoulders at all their footballers haunts. Quite enjoyed it up north at times.

Anyway, During his time at hull he played with Michael Dawson's brother. Because of this he approached my mrs and said he could sort me out the attached shirt. As it was another player asking they made sure the majority of the first team at the time signed it. Some fantastic signatures on there.

Unfortunately I haven't got a spare room anymore due to a growing family so it's in my garage.
