First reported from a French website called FootMercato. If true, that is the end of GNK after one season.

Read the full article at This is futbol

This guy has only played 10 times for Nice all season, he has however played for the French U20s twice. He apparently impressed our scouts. Hopefully they found gold this time.

That article is gold, Spurs fans are underwhelmed as he doesn't have a YouTube video or in-depth wiki page!
He has impressed our scouts and that's good enough for me, good luck to the kid if true.

It is utterly absurd how posters on SC think they know absolutely everything there is to know about young black French wingers after N'jie and Nkoudou.

Every time we're linked with a French winger a weary sigh ripples through the forums here. People post eye rolling smileys and say "why don't we just give one of our own youth players a try if we're just going to sign another mediocre French winger?", or "haven't we learnt our lesson about buying average French nobodies?". As though there actually was a lesson to be learnt, not a couple of random data points, signifying nothing. As though they'd be saying the same thing had we signed mahrez or Kante, rather than N'Jie.

The sheer arrogance and ignorance of assuming you know exactly what a player is going to be like because he roughly fits the profile of one or two previous players is embarrassing.

If he were a Croatian or Brazilian or Italian winger, the exact same people would already be buying a shirt with his name on the back.

I think it's also worth pointing out that N'jie and nkoudou aren't the same player at all. Nkoudou appears to be considerably technically superior to N'jie (though quite immature), and I still am a long way from writing him off as a Spurs player. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he has a decent season next year if he gets his head down during pre-season.

I really doubt he's a replacement for GKN, who I think might turn out to be OK even if I've given up on Clinton. If this is going ahead I suspect it's purely for his potential as he's hardly played senior football in France. I hope he's the next Bale but like all unproven youngsters it's tough to know.

I'd prefer we take a chance on unproven young player for a low fee, than pay 30 million for Sissoko, 40 millon for Lemar.

Look at our side, Kane cost nothing, Alli 5 million, Dier 4.5 million, most of the side cost under 13 million. The method has worked for us.

Yeah I fully agree there is a stereotype view that many people have (lets be straight) about black players, in fact i'd go as far to say with most black sports men and women, there is an unhealthy perception.

An example I heard on the radio yesterday that made me laugh was a caller having a right go at Lewis Hamilton, he went on about how it was his fault Vettell bumped him twice, blind to the fact mercedes telemetry indicated Hamilton did not break test. This caller then concluded that Hamilton thinks his a gangster because he wears a base ball cap and a chain....( don't all F1 driver wears caps? maybe not chains! but then there's not many in F1 that look like Hamilton)

Has any one suggested we stop signing white english players because a couple of them recently didn't make the first team immediately?

No of course not that would be really silly wouldn't it. Oh wait..

They must have been reading our transfer thread as well then.

So, apart from a lot of shouting at each other, can anyone tell me anything about this player and how accurate the headline is?

I think people need to be a bit more pragmatic. There are basically two ways of improving as a side: (A) buy someone you know is better than what you have; or (B) buy someone you are not sure is going to be better, but hope they deliver on their promise.

As our side is now very good, to execute plan (1) would take very large amounts of money. Take the winger dilemma. They would be keeping one of Dele, Son or Eriksen out of the side. Minimum £30m. And even then there is no guarantee you get it right (Yes, I am looking at you Sissoko). Which means you need enough money to do it all over again if you get it wrong - think Man United, Man City or Chelsea. We just don't have that kind of money.

So, we are taking Plan B - scout good young players and hope they deliver on their potential. Inherent in that Plan is that some won't. Apparently NJie has let himself down in terms of work ethic. GNK is just getting started. But the idea that this is a condition of the French winger seems a bit short sighted to me. Anyone remember Bostock?

But hopefully, for every Bostock, Njie, Taarabt, Pritchard or whoever, there is a Lennon, Rose, Bale etc coming through with them.

That's certainly worked for Monaco and it is what has been working for us.

So how about we patient; let the scouts do their job; let the signings settle in; and judge them on their merits when they have been with us as long as most of you have been at your work/school?

If we are after this guy it's obviously based on potential rather than any proven quality. Once in a blue moon a player like Alli turns up who makes the grade straight away but I don't expect another signing like him any time soon. I think a lot of fans expect each and every signing to be pushing for a first XI spot and don't really know where half of our youngsters come from.

And when Goughie asked him why the stewards didnt penalise Hamilton the plonker ignored the question, so ingrained was his the dislike for Hamilton he couldnt perceive anything else but his own prejudice.
Anyway before I go too far off track, completely agree with Sly1 above.
