One of our Double team legends, it's sad to know he is now in poor health.

His pairing at right back with Ron Henry was near perfect and Peter played in 299 games for us between 1952 when he joined us from the amateur ranks of Enfield Town until he moved on in 1965. Although he moved to South Africa where he played for Durban and then started his own business when he hung up his boots, he has returned at regular intervals over the years for events at the Lane.

I remember him well as being not only a superbly fit natural athlete but also one of the nicest, friendliest of the 60s team. Always time for a chat. In a quiet moment during a game when he was near the touchline, he would often give me a wave and a smile from the pitch where I stood right behind the fence on the centre line.

I hope he has a wonderful birthday.

Cheers Cosmic, I always thought he was a bit of an unsung hero of the double winning side but a cracking defender. Thanks for the heads up ,you really are a bit of an SC legend yourself Cosmic:love::)
