Remind me how brilliant Walker was in his first season for us? Give Aurier a chance, as in an actual pre-season with the team and a run of games before writing him off.

he was in the PFA team of the year 2011/12 which was his first season with us as a first-teamer.

Because for his first year with us, and indeed his second year with us, he wasn't good enough to even be near our first XI.

he was 19 and on loan.
And Aurier's a troubled lad, who's been with us less than a season, seemingly buckled down well and tried his best. He deserves our support and there's no reason to think he won't improve next season. It's very rare for a player to sign and instantly become the best in the league in their position.

Top 19 would be a start though.

I think the original post was making fun of people who always bitched about Walker and were happy to see him leave, more than an attempt to trash Aurier. Personally, I think Walker has been the best right back in the league, on average, for 7 years and there arent many playing who could do a better job for us. Thats why Pep paid a shitload of money for him and plugged him straight in to the best prem team in a generation.

He's not been that bad. And Poche himself is on the record as saying that having a full pre-season with the squad is very important, that our January purchases were made with next season in mind offering the players these few months to adapt etc. Let's at least give Aurier that rather than chucking him under the bus because he's not matched some ludicrous expectations of immediately being better than Walker. Especially when vast swathes of our first team squad - Lloris, Rose, Lamela and Dembele particularly come to mind - have at various points been written off as shit when it turns out they're anything but.

To be fair he got young player of the year in his first season with us in the first team and was 5 or 6 years younger than Aurier. Not to say Aurier wont improve but the comparison wasn't great.

It's not real dude, like no-one's gonna sit there and think 'if I play Aguero as a winger he's unlikely to track back and pick up the full back or cover his man' it's just pure fantasy stuff which isn't meant to be taken that seriously.

It still does a complete disservice to every defensive midfielder in the league to ignore them because you're trying to pack the team full of glamour players

When did anyone write Lloris off as shit? Don't think I've ever known anyone to criticise him until recently...

Didn't Kante make the team two years prior to this and Matic the year before?

Should have Fernandinho instead of Aguero, with Eriksen out left and Fernandinho at DM. Every member of City’s midfield 3 should be there, Aguero only plays down the middle and Eriksen has played all across the AM positions.

For what it's worth, I don't think Walker has been anywhere near as effective this season as he was the previous two.

I think that's down to the manager though. Walker himself has said that Pep doesn't want him to get forward as much as he did at Tottenham.

Why is Aguero in there?

He's had a good season, it's just been interrupted by injuries. He's got a goal every 94 minutes in the league which is better than Harry and only 8 minutes worse than Salah.

Really pleased to see Jan get into the team. Ottamendi is a bit of a surprise though. Apparently his passing stats are fantastic, but I haven't seen him do anything special when I've seen City play. Someone like Lascelles or one of the Burnley defenders probably deserves it more.
