Hasn't got the work ethic
He doesn't fit the 'no dicks` policy
And most importantly he is massively overrated, or was when barca signed him.

I personally think he fits in the' luxury player group, these types of players don't fit our model. Son, allí, kane, lamela, Moura, eriksen all work their tits off for us.

Would coutihno be willing to do that?

Definite no thanks.

No truth in it thankfully. He’s far too expensive for us and not that good

Only on spurscommunity could the posters get furious about a summer with no new signings, spend the whole season decrying our lack of creativity and depth in attack, and then deem Coutinho is not good enough.

I don’t think people should be ridiculed for thinking Coutinho is overrated. Yes if he was available as a steal he would improve the squad but we don’t have limitless money and even at cut price he is going to cost more than he is worth vs other options, at least that’s my opinion and my interpretation of people’s lack of enthusiasm here.

He's so overrated, don't want.

Match of the day player, he is so inconsistent but will score the odd worldie 30 yarder which keeps up his image of being a world class talent.

First and foremost i'd rather hang onto Eriksen of course, and I don't think that is far-fetched at all, but I believe if he was the Eriksen replacement along with Lo Celso as an addition, he would actually be a good signing, also high profile for better or worse. However, even if he is wanted out the door for a relatively cut-price deal, I think there would be better signings to be made elsewhere, Fakir or Ziyech for example. The only way I could maybe see it happening is if Barcelona wanted Eriksen and Eriksen decided he fancied them instead of Madrid, and thus a deal was forged.

I wish I could read what your post said pre edit.

I’m not ridiculing those posters, I’m just expressing surprise. I’m also not aiming my comment at those who say he’s overrated, I agree with them, I’m aiming my comment st those who say he’s not good enough, as he absolutely is and would improve our AM.

Poch was the making of him at Espanyol. Coincidentally Coutinho is the reason Southampton appointed Poch, Nicola Cortese was scouting Coutinho at Espanyol but he said he fell in love with the man on the touchline and had to bring him to the Prem. (y)

In my personal opinion coutinho was just never a 140m pound player and he’s suffered for that. When he was sold by Liverpool they effectively gained 50m as Coutinho was probably worth 80-100. That extra fee allowed them to spend and basically get Fabinho/Keita and rebuild their squad. Not his biggest fan, but that might just be down to years of arguing with Liverpool fans about Eriksen vs Coutinho

If Poch had him at espanyol and decided to bring him to Spurs surely that'd be vindication that he is a Poch player

Coutinho is a good player and you can't deny his goal scoring exploits for Liverpool - he scored some incredible goals, however, he was often compared to Eriksen during his time at Liverpool and I'd argue that they're really not all that similar as players. Eriksen is a far more rounded footballer and does his best work facilitating for others, chipping in with some excellent goals when required. Coutinho though was always a goal scoring midfielder more than anything else that could provide for his teammates when required and the stats tend to support that. If anything, Dele is far comparable than Eriksen:

Coutinho: 152 apps for LFC, 41 Goals, 37 assists. 1 goal every 3.7 games / 1 assist every 4.1 games.
Eriksen: 206 apps for THFC, 49 goals, 64 assists. 1 goal every 4.2 games / 1 assist every 3.2 games.
Alli: 131 apps for THFC, 42 goals, 32 assists. 1 goal every 3.1 games / 1 assist every 4.1 games.

I think we can all agree that Alli is at his best in the final third and not in deeper midfield. With that in mind, my personal view is that Coutinho is not a player we need and instead Lo Celso, as a deeper lying facilitator is much more what we would need, particularly if Eriksen leaves.

He's a match-winner, so I'd absolutely take him, but this is basically someone saying we'd be a good fit rather than any indication at all that we're even interested.

Not sure what you were expecting in the pre-edit, but finding out I just added the second ‘my’ in the final sentence for clarity is a disappointment I’m guessing ?

Seems as if we agree anyway, I didn’t get that from your first post. ?
