The thing about this is that the only reason they could do this is because they had free access to the pitch, millions of people every year have free access to premiership football pitches and yet all those millions of people don't invade the pitch, why don't they?
They don't because they know that the only reason they have free access to the pitch is because there are no fences, why are there no fences? do these fuckers even know why there are no fences? do these fuckers even care why there are no fences? of course they don't they are arsholes and they will no doubt have a right good fun time trolling the next Hillsbrough if the fences go back up again because thats the on the cards, personally I think they should be sat in front of a screen and made to sit through the entire footage of the 96 Liverpool fans dying in front of their eyes and then they might just begin to understand.

I think it was Andy Townsend last night on the commentary who said all it takes is one person to do this with a knife and attack a player. I kind of wish he'd not said that as you never know if it will put the idea in some sicko's head, obviously they might think of it anyway but still, you neve know. If someone does try it though, I hope they don't do it at the Lane now that we're being slaughtered for having poor security.

Remember how we laugh when players slip and fall over? Even the referee slipped in last nights game. They are all wearing boots.

You trying running in shoes on wet grass and see how fast you can run.

The fault lies with the idiots who did it and not the security. I can promise you that they would have been able to do exactly the same at any stadium up and down our country. We, unlike many other countries, have the privilege of being able to watch games without fencing because 99.9% of the time people just wanna watch the game. Without those fences it is easy to get on the pitch.

That's the thing....without fencing there just isn't a ton that you can do to stop someone who really wants to get on the pitch.

The stands are practically on top of the pitch, you see players drop into the seats now and then and of course the bench is typically in and around the stands. A match in the PL, or really any major match is a logistical nightmare for security.

Thing is, it is a concern and still happens regardless of sport or venue, there will never be a completely sealed security environment at these matches. If you really want on the pitch....it is going to happen.

The states are a great example of how complex the security can be and it still is considered a logistical nightmare to keep a stadium secure.

At a major sporting event (basically any NFL/NBA/MLB/NHL/International sporting event/top tier college football/basketball game) you will see something akin to this.....

In the states they tend to have security that is hired by the team, these are the lowest level of security, usually college kids or people who are doing it for a free way into the game. These are typically also the people who perform the pats downs for EVERY person entering the stadium to ensure that there is no outside booze or items that could be a hazard (weapons/flares/projectiles) that are on anyone entering the stadium.

Then there will be private security, if you watch an NFL game you will see the private security who are trained/paid specifically to always watch the crowd and work in conjunction with the police and the basic event security . They are typically on/near the field. If you watch an NFL game you will often see them behind the benches and broadcasters and they do not watch the game....these are typically guys who do security for a living....College teams typically won't have these, neither will other sports but they are usually present at NFL/international matches.

They also tend to opt for very heavy police presence, which can get very expensive. All of of the major stadiums co-ordinate with local police and there will be a high presence off-duty police on "Detail" duty where they typically get paid 2x+ time as well as a large amount of on-duty police. Depending on the stadium in question there often may be an actual police station/drunk tank/jail inside the stadium (a couple stadiums have even experimented with putting an actual court complete with judge/public defender/prosecutor in the stadium so the violators can be seen and a determination if jail or other steps are needed without reducing active police presence at the stadium). If the event is big enough there will even be full tactical units (SWAT/HRT teams) available to be deployed from on the stadium grounds if need be. They will also usually have multiple EMS (paramedics) teams on premiss and a fire department on standby and some large stadiums may even have very small fire stations (say 5-10 men) on premiss. Of course, these being US police....all are fully armed with a side-arm (with extra rounds), pepper spray/mace and a baton.

Basically at a game in the states.....if there is a a gate or any form of entrance to the stadium there will be a minimum of 2-4 cops plainly visible in that area. Anywhere the players/staff are there will be at least one cop (not uncommon to see a cop sitting on the actual bench of a team at a baseball game and there is always one in the bullpens) present. There will be a few cops to cover a couple sections of seats (say 4 cops for each 2-4 blocks of seats). As well as several who are on/near the field itself.

So at any given major sporting event (the security is much lower as you move down the sporting food chain) you may have in excess of 200+ event security, 100+ Police, 20+ EMT (and depending on the event there may be private security as well) INSIDE the stadium, that is not including cops/event staff to direct traffic, cops at pubic transportation hubs, Cops/event staff in the parking lots etc.

And despite ALL of this (plus the typical construction of a non-basketball/Hockey venue that will have a 6-7 foot elevation difference between the field and the first row of the stands) ....there are still idiots who get onto the field. Barring the game being played inside a bubble you will never be able to keep a perfect security setup. All you can really do is to make it inconvenient for the idiots to do something stupid.

Stupidity (much like life) will find a way to thrive if there is a will for it to do so.

Serious suggestion.

You don't need faster stewards or increased security. You need one dog handler with a well trained Alsatian. End of problem.

I forgot that the army is well renowned for sending gun toting maniacs back into society. My bad!
if you've ever been out in an army town, such as Taunton, as (say) a teenage goth, I think you'd realise that national service would just create more arseholes who know how to hurt people

That can differentiate between the refs, the players and the pitch invader.

That's the ultimate Alsatian.

I hope Troll Station have a bit of money in their back pocket, because a certain fine from Uefa is going to be landing on their laps pretty soon.

Unfunny, chavy *****

Are people honestly that stupid to think that interrupting a sporting event of a company who turn over millions a year will not have repercussions? both legal and financial?

Also don't believe that BassBuds nonsense either, why would they troll someone who generates revenue for them, guarantee they had something to do with it, and it might come out if they have left this lot to be hung out to dry.

Idiotic to the core.

The club should sue them for the value of the fine UEFA will dish out, and for the cost of the match overrunning (stewards, lights, etc), BassBuds (assuming they have no connection with "TrollStation" should also join the act and sue them for the breakdown of our partnership, loss of revenue etc.

Granted though, fines issued by courts are basically pointless anyway - I know 2 people who went through lengthy damages claims from very large corps and were both awarded substantial sums but, three years in, they've barely seen more than their court costs paid.

I think you are on to something here. They could line up a pack of numbered dogs on the touchline and when the voice announces over the tannoy: "Release the hounds!" everyone could start betting on which number would be first to come away with the perp's genitals.

BassBuds release to the incident:

View attachment 16510

I wonder if that's connected to the charge of 'handling stolen goods'? If BassBuds provided them with shirts to give away as part of a promotion, could it technically be handling stolen goods if Troll Station decide to give the shirts to some of their fuckwit members to wear as part of this prank instead?

Not that I'm taking the BassBuds statement at face value. Just as likely that they weren't anticipating the ref stopping the game, and the massive negativity and financial repercussions that has and will follow.

Ironically, if the ref had followed the rules by the book Spurs should have 2 players sent off… since both Soldado and Dembele each «tackled» an invader. Seriously, rules say, that is a red card. Glad the ref had common sense.
PS! Although already pointed out: what a bunch of unfit stewards Spurs have! Wonder where they recruted them from  They should have some fit guys who knows about martial arts. After all they're there to protect the players and not just be "decorations".

how exactly do you impose a stadium ban anyway?
I've heard something about having to to appear at a police station with ID at the time of kick off to ensure you aren't able to get to the ground. This was to do with football hooligans though. Name goes on a database I guess.
