Well to be honest all of their new players are on the bench. I'm really curious about this Pepe guy. He can be real deal for them.

Second half of the season could be telling because for the first of the half season we visit all the tough away grounds from the top 10 bar Chelsea

Newcastle are crap.

Steve Bruce is such a turgid manager; he’s got to be a buttock slapping, grand wizard to keep getting these gigs

Chelsea look shit. That imbibes me with the intense happiness of a born-again grooming Jesus’ beard

Pretty much what I expected, only real surprise was how bad Chelsea look and how good Man City were but apart from that I think we can mount a challenge providing we keep our players fit, don't expect the other 3 to keep pace.

I didn’t think either team looked that good. If Chelsea had a decent threat going forward that would have been a draw I reckon. United finished their chances well. But they were both far too open, and misplaced so many passes.

Jesus, it’s here already. Really hoping a full year in the new place will give us more points. Midfield is looking a lot better, just concerned for the fullbacks.

Positive though. COYS
Why?
They are a million miles behind us now in terms of quality. Pepe wont polish a turd.
I really do hate false, arrogant and juvenile statements like this.

I guess the right side seems like a worry, but we have KWP, Aurier, Foyth, Dier, even Alderweireld who plays there at international level.

We’ve strengthened LB with Sessegnon, even though I suspect he’ll play more of an attacking role.

I know it’s only one game but this is joyful

Interesting watch today. Chelsea, Arsenal and Utd.
Chelsea need time to find their identity
Arsenal will get goals, how Luiz settles is key.
Utd will be dangerous to any team. Looked much better in their roles 2nd half.

Impressed with AWB and Maguire. Cost ridiculous fees but Utd now have them and will be better for it.

£50m plus potentially on Dybala, still wondering if that money could have got us AWB instead. Even if he’s realistically!?! £25/30/35m in a fair market.

For the first time in years, found myself wondering if I’d prefer Utd defenders AWB, Maguire and Shaw
Or
Foyth/KWP, Toby (one year left) and Rose (on off want-away)

Think it’s the former :-/

City, Pool, Us and Utd. Top 4
Hardly brave after this week end but looks like we’ll need a good season. Looking forward to LoCelso and really hoping CE signs on again

Arsenal not exactly setting the footballing world in fire today

Not worried about them
Problem for me is, we didn’t look like setting the world on fire either. Home to promoted Villa.
And perhaps worse.
We didn’t seem to have any identity for what, 70 minutes of the game.
How Poch can come out of a full preseason and think we’re best playing a diamond formation is baffling. Moura taking Kane’s place up top, Lane running the flanks and dropping deep. Sissoko and NDombele having to trek out to the sides. Lamela adding to the narrowest front six in history. So ugly.
Hopefully Poch goes back to 4-2-3-1quickly.
City away will give us a very clear picture of where we’re at for this season.
Not expecting us to win away to the best prem squad assembled but how we play, position and compete will be very enlightening.

I’ve renamed the thread because we’re not Arsenal, and it’s was cringe. We’ve moved on from when these threads were first about.
